Purchased a camera from their site, and selected 2 day shipping. Camera clearly showed that it was In Stock and showed new. It did say that it was a Brand New Factory Fresh Import Model, which I was completely OK with. Upon placing the order, I was contacted repeatedly to "verify the purchase". Once called back, I was asked to verify that I was the person who placed the order, and verified the address. I then asked the person to verify that it showed that I selected 2 day shipping. He said yes, but had to verify that it was in stock. (website already showed that it was in stock, and this was verified on the phone the day prior). Upon returning he first asked me if I would like to purchase a battery with it. When I said "no, just the battery it comes with is fine", he replied that it doesn't come with a battery "since it is a factory fresh import model", and one has to be purchased separately. Additionally, he stated that it would be roughly 2 weeks before they get any in. I canceled my order and hung up the phone. My issue is that the "verification call" was a tactic that was being used to try to upsell purchases. Additionally, after scouring the listing and the entire FAQ section of the website, it says no where, that the camera doesnt come with a battery. I have purchased "grey market" cameras before, and every one of them came with the same items the US versions come with (including a battery). Finally, as stated above, the listing CLEARLY stated that it was in stock, and this was confirmed on the phone less than 12 hours prior.

*** of Maine used an upsell strategy. They list a lens with $719. I know it's a grey market lens and I want to buy it. But after I placed the order they wanted me to call to confirm. During the call, they said that my lens wouldn't be delivered in 20 days and they offered a 'retailer' version for $849 which I thought was a retailer version and it came with a manufacturer warranty. But after they placed the order I searched its website and found that they are not an authorized retailer. But they already shipped it out. *** just left it in a CVS store which is far from me. I don't have time to pick it up. I think the restocking fee is not fair in this case since they told me it's a retailer kit. But they are not a retailer for *****

The scamming and bad business practices Occurred on 02/23/2023, after I inquired, a shady rep called to confirm payment, I bought items of a value of ******* and never successfully got them to me and refused to give full refund or resend items even after ***** another federal company confirmed that I was wronged and approved the claim. No longer want items as customer service is pretty much non existent just want my money back. ******************* who handles the claims is unresponsive , ignoring all forms of contact for almost a month ducking and dodging calls according to reps **** apparently not in right now 90 percent of the time I called, I honestly just feel bad, not only for me but to the others it has happened to also this is completely insane to take tax paying Americans funds with no empathy and now you have sensitive information and my money this is unacceptable and extremely embarrassing as a company and unprofessional and wrong. My bank was flagged and closed due to this payment which is very unusual to me as well. I have requested resolution documentation, claim number via email and phone and still nothing , I basically had to beg them to file a claim, after repeatedly telling them the SHIPPER has to file separate claim directed by ***** I was never supposed to file as Im not the one who shipped item they just refused to help they literally dont care at all, reps keep saying someone will call no one ever calls but im hoping they return my funds or a agency can take action and assist me with the return of funds Ive tried everything and waited patiently PLEASEEEE help me.

      Hi,

****************** calls were not ignored, she was told several times that we have to wait for the claim resolution. There is no way to initiate a second claim while one is in

progress. We reopened the claim right after the first was denied.

Our records indicate that a dispute was initiated by ************** and should be resolved within the next week or so. ************** is not responsible for any fees at this time.

***'s of Maine sells grey market cameras at FULL price. They do not explain to consumers that international models cannot be covered by Canon USA domestically. I specifically asked and thought I was paying for a DOMESTIC Canon EOS R5. This is sneaky and not transparent business methods. There is nothing in my paperwork that indicates my camera which I paid full price for was not going be granted warranty by Canon.

"Order Number: AB1468985 **************************** Subject: Dissatisfied customer Message: Hello. I ordered a body only initially from you all last week and shortly after the order was placed i received a call from a "concerned' salesmen who convinced me to switch my $1200 order to a $1500 because the product I ordered was imported and wouldn't come with a manufacturer's warranty.what he did not explain to me is that I would be buying a camera body that was sold as a KIT from the manufacturer. That this serial is tied to the serial of the lens and that I am still not covered through canon, just you all.If you wish to do future business with me, or for me to ever use your name in a light that isn't negative I would like to be refunded the difference between my final purchase price ($1400) and what I initially ordered ($1154). I record all conversations with salesmen and will be filing with the BBB if my reasonable request is not met.Thank you for your time."This is an email I sent to their customer service this morning and was told to call to resolve my issue. When I did call I was transferred to the salesmen who originally "upsold" me. He declined to refund me the difference between what I originally tried to buy and what was ultimately sold to me and explained I would need to RMA my camera and have another one sent out. My main issue here is the bait and switch tactic used by the salesmen to upcharge them to buy a camera that was sold to them as a KIT, meaning the serial numbers of the camera body and the lens that go with it are tied together. This company appears to make regular practices of buying new kits and selling the parts individually. They also appear to use misinformation as well as lies to pressure customers into doing what they want, ie: "if you buy product X it will never be covered under warranty, but if you buy product "Y" you're safe. Ultimately they are literally the same product with the same manufacturer's warranty.

I bought a camera lens from them off Amazon. In the bottom it says international version being new to this hobby I didnt understand what that meant. Everything else states Genuine Tamron. I just sent my lens back to the manufacture to have it repaired and I found out that its **** market and they wont fix it. I feel as though I have been a victim of a scam. I paid the same price as the USA version. The company wont do anything to help me.

      Hi,

I ordered a TV on 09AUG, order# ********* totaling $2037. The original order was for about $1837 and I was told that I needed to contact Customer Service to complete my order. When I called I was informed that the "Free Shipping" I was given was only for their local delivery area in NJ and that to ship freight to CA it was going to cost me another $200 which they also said I had agreed to in their shipping policy prior to submitting my order. I agreed as it was still cheaper than my local retailer. After no updates for several days further digging revealed that their shipping policy does NOT state this and they are selling grey market TVs that will not be warrantied by the manufacturer. The tracking 13days later still shows "electronic order received" not "In Transit" so I called to cancel my order. Their rep stated that my order is already on its way and can't be cancelled. I want my money refunded and will refuse this item if it shows up and will not pay a restocking fees to scammers

Ordered a Canon R5 mirrorless camera from Abe's of Maine. When attempting to register the camera and the warranty terms I paid for with Canon, I was told by Canon that I could not register the camera because even though the camera said Canon on it, it was not a Canon manufactured camera with a Canon sereil number and the 3 year warranty I paid for was not a service that the seller obtained through Canon. I paid for a Canon camera and it was clearly advertised as a Canon camera. I have made three attempts to return the camera to Abe's of Maine and they have provided no guidance or assistance, so that I can do so. I would like to return the camera and receive a full refund. Please disregard the garrow invoice attachment. That was attached in error and I was unable to delete it.
