My daughter was accused of shoplifting by Tiga Schuepp (the owner) but instead of having a conversation or asking us about it the day we were there, the next day she sent us an email explaining that she knows her accusation can be offensive that's why she didn't do it in person but was perfectly comfortable accusing them of it over email. The whole time these accusations are being said she has absolutely no evidence. Not only did she make the accusations she also snatched them from my daughters hand and took them from her only to spring the items on me when I was purchasing other items, not giving my daughter the chance to ask or show the items to me prior to the checkout. Not only is that a completely unprofessional and sketchy way of handling it, my kids are great children who know wrong from right and would never shoplift. I did speak to all of them and they are all very surprised by this accusation as they had no intention of any of the accusations that they were accused of. We are locals and to be treated like this by a local shop is absolutely ludacris. Locals and out of towners be weary and save yourself the trouble by avoiding going in to The Penguin Gallery in North Conway, New Hampshire.

I sent an e-mail to the parents of accused "shoplifters" because I felt that the actions could be easiest handled privately, and not make a big scene about it. I was able to recover the product, otherwise I would've had to involve the police. I'm sure these kids are great kids, but kids make mistakes, and I thought their parents should know what happened. After the mother rejected my e-mail, which had good intentions, I looked back at my cameras- I have them on film, ripping up tags and stuffing them in places where they're not supposed to be, looking around for cameras, and then starting to put a bracelet in their pocket. As I approach them, you can actually hear one of the girls say "stop, she's coming". So to say I have no evidence is false- I both personally saw what happened and have it on video. The girls are not welcome in my store and I will call the police if I see them again at the Penguin. I am not ashamed of having a zero tolerance policy of shoplifting.
