Purchased a vehicle from them in October 2021. Purchased a warranty for extra money due to the age of the vehicle. In February a check engine light came on. I brought the car back and after looking at it I was told they would check to see if it was covered by the warranty. They never called letting me know what was being done to repair my car. A. Few weeks later they asked me to send a copy of the warranty. It was again weeks later that I had asked what was going on with my car. The part wasn't even ordered. When the repair was done I was told it wasn't covered so they charged me half ( $***) to get it fixed. Except I got my car back last Friday to find my car isn't fixed. I still have a light on my dash and it is eating gas. It used a quarter of a tank of gas to drive 30 miles. What started all was that I used over $****** in gas to drive to ******* and back. I drove to a gallery and then came home.Business response

I paid **** dollars for service on my 2011 ******** including timing chain and gear replacement, got car back and drove it for about three weeks and motor went down, took it back to Jansen as it appeared to be a timing issue, was told by on of the service techs that it sounded like bent valves, which normally is caused by timing chain jumping time, was informed I needed an **** dollars motor to fix my car and that there was no way the timing parts put in engine could of failed, and they weren't willing to dig into the engine to verify that!Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/02/15) */ The timing chain does come with a one year warranty. Therefore the timing chain is still under a ** parts warranty. That warranty is valid at any ** dealership. We offered to tear down the engine to determine a causal part failure. If the timing chain was defective and caused the engine failure ** will stand behind their parts warranty. If however after tearing down the engine it is found the timing chain had not failed then it would be the customers responsibility to cover the cost of tearing down the engine. It was our technicians opinion that the noise coming from the engine was a lower end knock and likely not from a timing chain. We have replaced several timing chains in 3.6 liter V6 ** engines. It would be unlikely to have a new timing chain to fail in 3 months. Therefore we advised customer it may not be in their best interest to authorize tear down but we are more than willing to do so if the customer authorizes us to do so and is willing to cover the cost of tear down in the event timing chain did not fail.
