Hired him to install a couple garage door openers. One door needed a new bracket which technically he replaced. It was the wrong bracket so the door didn't open right. He replaced the spring system which was great but he had the springs too tight. One of the doors has to be jiggled when opening because a nut for a pulley he installed blocks the way for the door to open. He didn't even install the garage door opener. He put it together, said it was too close to the ceiling and then said he can come back later. 3 visits to get that done. And after his first visit he said he would come back the following weekend to finish the job...only to find out that's not the case per his assistant. Wish I would have just paid professionals instead of fixing a handyman work.Review from Amy S

We were bamboozled. Handyman Ed 'sounded very capable' for the random list of items we needed done. We had him install garage storage, a peep hole, replace faucets, install insulation and dry wall in the garage, hang a dart board and bike racks, for over $2k. Yet, after waiting several weeks for him to start the work (inc unfortunate down time due to CV) it was clear he either was over his head or had no interest in doing the job well. One example is replacing 3 faucets. After leaving and requiring final payment it was discovered he installed one faucet backwards (hot/cold) when called right after he left, he proceeded to argue the issue was the builder and NOT his work. He reluctantly came back and continued to argue that point. Upon switching the water input, amazingly the issue was resolved. His handy work was less than stellar and cost us a small fortune. We ended up cleaning up after him in all areas of our home, picking up trash and adding fortifying screws where he left us a clear hazard in the garage shelving. Also, I gave clear instructions of location for the bike racks and he installed them in the wrong place, leaving us holes in the wall--but atleast he moved them where I wanted them in the first place. The instructions of location were clear from the start. It was an expensive lesson learned. I hope people spend more time reviewing him before contracting him--because he makes himself out to be a perfectionist... Even bad mouthing the builder for their lousy drywall work, yet his is not nearly as clean. It's sad to think he's been doing this to others, we had no idea.Handyman Ed Response

We agreed to price on August 6th. Ed came to start on August 10th. When he was at your house our son came home and just tested positive for covid so Ed removed himself from your house. After finally testing negative on August 21st we contacted you to reschedule. Ed was out again on August 28th. While yes it did take weeks to get it done but it was due to our household getting covid so we thought we were doing the correct thing to protect your family from getting covid. As far as the facet Ed did not reluctantly come back. As soon are your husband called me he turned around and came back. When it comes to not putting items where you didn't want them he put them where your husband told him to put them. You were not even at the house and while he was at the house your husband did video call and you and you wanted them moved again so he moved them for you. He did try to clean up as best as he could.Review from Nicole C

Ed ****** required a 50% deposit for our projects. He pressured us for money, so we did not lose our place in his schedule but did not start until over a week later. The first project was painting kitchen cabinets, replacing formica, and painting trim. He said 5 cabinet doors needed replacing totaling an additional $250 (we said ok, later discovering no doors were replaced). We do not live in the house, so I got a text saying the kitchen was done and asking when he could expect payment. I said I needed to see the work before paying. When I got to the house, the kitchen was not complete. Deceptively, countertops were covered with supplies, paper, and tape. I had to peel back paper to check his work. He had not replaced the formica on one countertop, new formica was uneven and pieced together in an unskilled way, formica was chipped on the edges, he had not put a formica edge piece by the oven, there was no caulking around the sink or along the wall, he slathered old paint (he left behind random paint cans-some exterior, some oil-based that we know were not purchased for our project) on cupboards leaving an uneven finish, he had not painted the bottoms of the cabinets, and he ruined walls in a room by leaning wet doors against them. I sent a list of items needing to be finished before payment. The next day I got a text saying everything was done and asking when he would be paid. I said I needed to see the kitchen before paying. Poor quality work and deception were grounds for termination. See email:
"You received $2973.11 via cashier's check written October 3, 2022 as a deposit for the entire project. Consider that payment for the work done to date. That amount more than covers the work done in the kitchen ($2,130.34) and the partially completed trim (estimated $375 - INCOMPLETE). Consider this work arrangement terminated on the grounds of incomplete and poorly done work, as well as deceptive practices. Your permission to access the property is now rescinded."Handyman Ed Response

Well deposit is required for materials needed. I did not pressure you for a down payment at all, just texted to see if you were interested in our service still. You agreed Ed that you were. I started the following week due to I needed to complete a previous job. The doors were replaced again plywood doors are not custom made fancy cabinets. So they would look the same as the original. I did not ever receive the extra $250.00 for them. The formica tops were reworked and looked great. The underside of the cabinets were painted.. I gave the option of doing full cabinet replacement but you weren't able to afford that and I understood. I sanded the cabinets smooth they also had fire damage and without the ability to spray them I used a roller being stained originally the stain did show through I pointed that out you stated is OK if it's not perfect. I insisted on fixing them. I purchased oil based primer and paint which did cover the stain well. The cabinets were fine afterwards. You wanted different estimates done and pay at completion of said areas. Among the time that I waited for paint to dry. Trime also had to have oil based paint and primer. I explained DO NOT PAINT ANY WALLS UPSTAIRS TILL I WAS DONE WITH TRIM. you painted them anyways so that isn't a issue I should be responsible for. There was no deceptive intentions made. You had also stated that you were scarce on funds to pay any extra money and was barely able to afford the work being done, I adjusted the costs to help out and not leave you worrying about payments. I dismissed over $4000.00 on my Initial estimate, to help you financially stressed family, you decided to attempt painting the home yourself. I'm sorry you feel this way, but I belive that you had the intentions to back out of the contract originally, after the main hard to do items were completed. I redid the formica after it mysteriously was chipped I replaced the formica by the stove after you mentioned you didn't like it. This complaint you made again is invalid. Many issues came abroad and I fixed them much my personal money was spent on this project to make it perfect. You ran short on funds and admitted you were low on funds. And after completing the areas you couldn't do personally, you made a excuse to "fire" me, and make a comment that is incorrect.Review from Ryan S

Ed ****** was 6 weeks behind and walked off the job. Upon hiring a crew to finish his work it was discovered that he did not waterproof the shower and the entire shower needed to be removed and started over. Additionally, he showed up late daily, left early, and would go to the hardware store after arrival. He had so many excuses for why he would not be on site and never informed me ahead of time.
