Absolutely horrible. We have gone almost 2 weeks with no pickup. When we call we get told they will schedule a single pickup and again, never show up. We pay a lot of money for this service and still need to go to the trash drop off.

This company is taking advantage of people living in rural areas. If I want trash pickup at my home, it is this awful company or nothing. And they know that. We too like the review below are now having to pay close to $50 additional hidden fees on top of the high price for pick up. The total for one month is what I paid for all year when I lived in town. How is this legal???

GFL Environmental took over my refuse & recycling services in June, 2021, from *** Waste with an explicit statement that "service, pricing, contracts, and partnerships [would] remain business as usual," then immediately imposed a 25% price increase :-( Then, in February, 2022, notified me that they would no longer provide recycling services. I called to verify that my bill would go down due to the loss of service and the representative said it would. The next bill did reflect the removal of recycling services and charged only for the refuse, but a message stated that the "invoice may reflect an adjustment for Fuel and Environmental surcharges" despite no adjustment being present. This was the first time such message appeared on my billing statement. My most recent bill now applies these "fuel and environmental surcharges" listed as an "Energy Recovery Charge" at the same time as my refuse service charge increases by 18%. The representative I spoke with says that this Energy Recovery Charge will be a recurring charge on every customer bill going forward, but it will fluctuate depending on their monthly reports on fuel prices. I get that fuel prices are going up and companies need to compensate for that, but I would think that a cost of doing business like that would be incorporated into my fee for service instead of tacked on as an additional cost after a rate increase. GFL contends that the notice listed on my bill is sufficient advance notice to me, as the customer, that they will charge the additional fee, despite providing separate advance notices of other changes to services in the past. I asked to speak with a manager regarding this issue and was directed to a voicemail with no personalized greeting message. GFL (previously this *** Waste branch) has issued guarantees to me, as a customer, and then repeatedly reversed those guarantees with little or no accommodation. If I could give less than 1 star here, I would without reservation.
