Avoid this company at all costs! They'll disappear when you seek explanations. I *********** insurance from them on 12/15/2023 for $913, paying everything upfront, and their prices beat any competitor. However, three months later, I received a bill demanding an additional $322 (a 35% increase). When I contacted their office for clarification, they couldn't provide any and said they'd get back to me after consulting their call center. A week of silence followed. Calling again, I was told my agent would contact me, but I requested information via text instead. The next morning, I received a text attributing the extra charge to an 'inexperienced operator,' claiming my wife had her license for less than three yearsfalse, as she's been licensed for 15 years. If they meant me, I obtained my license exactly three years ago, on 12/15/2020. My texts are ignored, calls to the office go unanswered, and promises of callbacks are unfulfilledNorth Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

We appreciate the Kontas business and the opportunity to provide a response to their concerns. We reached out to the Agent of record and the Agency Manager in your servicing office. They apologize for any confusion and for not being able to connect with you. The agent says she has attempted to reach out to you a few times and did leave a message for a return call in the last couple of days. Please contact their office and request to speak to the agent, manager or the agent of the day. Also any of the staff in that local are more than willing to assist you in any way. The office number is ************. Again, we are very sorry for the issues you are having and they look forward to speaking to you soon.Review from Connie B

We sincerely apologize for the delayed processing on the policy cancellations. The homeowners policy cancellation was processed on March 15, and the auto policy on March 19. We will examine the circumstances that led to the delay and continue to review ways to provide better service to our clients.Review from Rita C

Nice until you need the insurance. Driving down the interstate after work in the flow of traffic and apparently someone up ahead had some things fall off as people were running over some debris in the road. I hit it and shortly after my tire blew out and another one had lost air pressure. I call to make a claim and when the adjuster calls ** quickly told Im at fault for not swerving to miss it so therefore my deductible is not waived and its possible for an increase in my rates. Like WTF? Im driving doing 60 mph and you straight up say Im at fault bc I did not swerve? This isnt a go kart track its a ************ just a shame to hear the way things are contorted to make me the culprit instead of a victim of an unavoidable event. Like hows the story play out if I swerve and crash or swerve and hit another car? Assuming you even see the debris to take action. *** never made a claim and have given this company probably over 15000$ in insurance cost since I got stationed here. Just your typical money hungry insurance company sticking it to the citizen:-( I will say they have been very nice verbally though until I need it. I would also like to bring up after reading another review, I was under the impression I had an auto renewal on our home/auto so after the 1st year is up Im deployed overseas and when I get back we are receiving a fines for not having insurance and Im like what the heck. Apparently I was told they are not allowed to tell you when your insurance lapses/ expires for legal reasons so they just let ours expire with no notice via mail, phone, email. And then charged us more money.North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

Upon receipt of this review, our claims **** reached out and was advised our client did not want to answer any questions and that he wished to withdraw the claim. As to the renewal, renewal information was mailed several weeks in advance of renewal date. After payment was not received an additional notice was mailed providing a 2 week grace ******* When payment ultimately was not received, the policy expired.Review from Jessica J

I joined my husband's policy in April and have been ignored and screwed at every turn possible, I've asked multiple times for my insurance policy card, i've given email texts left messages and called multiple times and still haven't recieved it. That should have been my first red flag at what a mess this was going to turn into, ***** texted my husband Monday /11/27/23/ that we owed $250 but once called she couldn't provide information for what. Knowing insurance on a car is important I paid her over the phone and got no receipt, when asked why we needed to pay it the story changed multiple times..and I even got "I don't know why.." isn't it your job to know these things?? Now after texting back and forth about what's going on because calling is obviously not doing the trick I find out today /11/30/2023/ that we don't even have a policy! I've been driving around completely unaware to the fact I DON'T HAVE INSURANCE. Where did the 250 go? Why as an insurance agent would you not want to make me aware that my policy is lapsed? I think the reviews speak for themself here.North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

************** and **************, we appreciate your business and an opportunity to respond to your concerns. We are sorry for the confusion and issues with your policy and experience. We reached out to the agent and our brokerage department. Due to privacy and that there is so much activity on your account it would be best if you would reach back out to the local agency or Progressive directly for more details and service. My understanding is that you and your spouse have communicated quite a bit with the agent and Progressive has sent multiple billing and explanation notices to you via email. We can provide to you the multiple emails and communication that has been sent to you pertaining your account including access to your id cards. These emails include the phone number to the local agency as well as the customer service number to Progressive ********************** Company. The agency staff including the local manager is more than willing to discuss and assist you in any way. Again, our apology if we did not meet your expectations.Review from Brett L

The worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with. I cancelled my policy due to their rates. Randomly, without ANY NOTICE, a random amount of money was pulled from my checking account. When I brought it to their attention, they said sorry but nothing I can do about it. Unacceptable!!!North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

This letter is in response to the Better Business Bureau review from ******************. According to our records, a new automobile policy was purchased on May 23, 2023 to be effective for a six-month term. At this time, the insured was quoted their full term premium and elected to enroll in electronic funds transfer (EFT) to have their premium automatically drafted. Upon review, the policy was issued at a lower premium than originally quoted. In August we received change requests to add a newly licensed driver and vehicle to the policy. Upon completion of these requested changes, the premium of the policy increased to reflect the inexperienced driver and additional vehicle. On August 15, 2023, the insured registered for our online customer portal and enrolled in electronic billing; with all future bill notifications being delivered to their registered email address. **** notices reflecting the changes were delivered for this policy accordingly. On October 10, 2023, the insured submitted a request to cancel their policy. This request was received and processed the same day. Upon cancelation, premium was still owed for days of coverage provided. The bill notice was sent to the email address provided. This final payment was drafted in accordance with the insureds EFT enrollment agreement. In conclusion, based upon our research, all policy billing activity and payments were processed in accordance with our standard operating procedures.Respectfully,NORTH CAROLINA FARM BUREAU MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY, ***Review from Matthew C.

Worst customer service. Over 20+ years with them and tried to do a claim for damage that occurred on the interstate and was told I would be contacted between 24 and 48 hours. Well a little over a week later a claims adjuster finally calls back. Will definitely be changing insurance companies.Review from Jennifer M

Worst insurance company ever. Company stole our money for insurance we didn't even have. We were told by our local office it was their error and they were fixing it. It never got fixed. So we thought we were insured because we were paying for it, but home office said they canceled the policy in April... therefore they were just taking our money without providing insurance, and reporting to the state that we had a lapse (even though we were paying for insurance) costing us penalties. I'm thinking of hiring a lawyer. This behavior can't possibly be legal... and yes I have proof they took my money.Review from Ben M

After a storm damaged my home, North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency has denied my claim, and have acted in bad faith. They took over 3 weeks to investigate the claim, continually missing the opportunity to see the damage, and then refused it, saying it was long term damage....which was caused by their lack of investigating the claim promptly. Stay away from this company.
