We are working with Foundation Homes Residential who is building our custom home. We are near closing date and they are asking us to pay for our septic we were never informed of, or approved of and is 300% over the budgeted allowance. The contract stated they budgeted for $10,000 and once they received the septic permit from the county they would inform us with a firm price. The contract also states that with any change orders made by either party, there needs to be a mutual agreement and a document should be made stating the item being changed and the COST of the change. This document requires both signatures before any installation is started. The builders received our septic permit on August 10, 2022. They never informed us of any change in price until March 24, 2023..8 moths later after the septic was already installed. We were then finally informed that the septic system that they quoted for $10,000 was now costing $29,811 and we would be responsible to pay $19,811 overages. Before it was installed we were never notified about the price change. They also withheld the permit stating what type of septic we needed. They required us to sign an *** in order to see the invoice. We let them know we would not sign the *** nor pay for something we never approved of. We called multiple times and requested a meeting and they never called back. They also informed us they took bids on the job for the septic. They never told us they were taking bids, what companies they acquired, the options of prices or types of system they chose. They installed a more expensive system the county did not suggest to install on permit. They chose to install a different septic without our knowledge or approval and now want us to pay almost $20,000 for something they chose without our permission while with holding the invoice.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: FHR's response is untrue and misconstruing the narrative of the true situation we are dealing with, considering we have NEVER been unwilling to pay for a septic system at all. The response was not only dishonest, but also disrespectful, as we still remain their client; paying an amount of $590,490. We are ONLY disputing the 300% overage in the cost of the septic system without any communication prior to its installation, nor have we been given any detailed explanation of why its final cost was so high.
