Took our truck to have it looked at Carfix of ******. Beware they tried to add on repairs that were not needed and just had been done recently and silently added charges to our estimate of close to **** dollars to our bill. We only needed a minor thing repaired and the piece cost 10 dollars at auto parts store but they wanted to charge us 279 dollars plus all the other silent things they had added to the bill. We refused the work and removed our truck and took it to another place for repairs. Beware of Carfix in ****** they will cheat you big time.

They quoted me $96.08 Testing Fee just to look at my Endeavor and tell me what was wrong with it. I pay the Testing Fee. They said it was the starter motor, so I had them replace it. $345 more. I went to pick it up and the car started, but made a new winding noise for 5-10 seconds before finally turning over. They said the new noise was not covered, even though the car NEVER made that noise before bringing it to CarFix. Now they want to charge me another $165 labor to replace the starter motor, that THEY put in, claiming that MIGHT get rid of the noise. I ended up worse off than had I never brought my car there. Place should be called CarBreak.

Mr. ********* 2005 Endeavor was towed into our facility on 3/22/2022 because it wouldn't start. He approved testing fees in the amount of $96.08 prior to any work being started. During our initial evaluations, several items of concern were noted. The starter motor was found to be faulty and additionally, it was noted the starter was covered in engine oil due to large significant oil leaks. Mr. ******* approved the starter replacement and acknowledged that there would be no labor warranty on the starter unless the oil leaks were repaired, as oil saturation was the likely cause of the starter failure. This warranty exclusion was noted on the repair order that Mr. ******* signed off authorized.  Further, he declined the oil leak repairs.

After replacing the failed starter, we were able to start the car for the first time and complete our assessments of the condition of the vehicle.  At that point, we noted other preexisting issues and requested permission to proceed with further needed tests or services.  He declined all further work and declined our usual vehicle health report inspection, stating that he just wanted to get it running so he could trade it in.  We noted 'Massive oil leak' and 'excessive engine noise'.

On 3/24/2022 Mr. ******* contacted us in regard to the cost of testing as he felt he didn't get his value on the diagnostics testing. On the previous visit, we had already given him a $50 discount coupon that he did not supply.  We further reimbursed Mr. ******* $46.08 of the remaining cost of testing after the 50$ coupon that we applied earlier. This was done as a goodwill gesture only.

On 4/12/2022 Mr. ******* submitted an online request to have his starter replaced as he went to another repair facility, and they told him it sounded like the starter might be faulty. We called Mr. ******* and listened to his concerns and reminded him that there was no labor warranty on the starter. Mr. ******* asked the service advisor what the cost of labor would be to replace the starter again and he was informed it would cost 165$ for labor and no cost for the part.

The store manager contacted Mr. ******* again on 4/19/2022 (he had been out of town the previous week) to listen to his concerns. We informed him to stop by so we can listen to the noise and see if we can come to a resolution. We offered to replace the starter under warranty in good faith at no cost even if the starter was failing due to the oil leaks dripping onto the starter motor. Management also offered to test some of his engine light concerns at no additional cost.

After replacing the starter and testing the engine light we found there is a cylinder misfire due to oil leaking into spark plug tubes causing the ignition coil to fail. Mr. ******* declined to repair these items as he informed us he will be trading the vehicle in very soon. We hope that we have met Mr. ********* expectations and feel that we have gone above and beyond in striving for that goal.
