On 23 Dec 2024, our 7-year old 3-ton air handler stopped working properly. We contacted 72 Degrees to perform the repair *** the 10-year warranty only to find out the air handler was never warrantied (we also learned that a trade permit was never filed with Wake County, thus we never received an inspection of the workmanship post-install either). ** ****** Heating and Air (now 72 Degrees) performed the original install back in 2017. After many discussions with front office (******), our issue was elevated. 72 Degrees agreed to perform the instant repair (and any future repairs) under warranty, but only if we signed up for their membership plan - ****** confirmed the repair was $1928 and the maintenance plan was $450. Given we already had a maintenance plan with another company through 1 Oct 2025, it was agreed that the plan would begin 1 Oct 2025. In Sept 2025, the coil that 72 Degrees just replaced a few months prior failed again. 72 Degrees wanted to charge us $1200 for a leak detection test; we requested a 2nd opinion from our current HVAC provider who stated such a test is superfluous and in less than 10 minutes they found the leak w/video proof. After providing this information to 72 Degrees, they agreed to perform the repair but at the same price we paid just a few months prior (~$2K). Given our repetitive negative experience with 72 Degrees, we informed 72 Degrees that we will no longer use them for our HVAC needs.A refund request of the maintenance plan was submitted via email on 17 Sept 2025. I followed up via email again on 22 and 29 Sept 2025. I also followed up via phone on 18, 24, and 30 Sept 2025; each time I spoke with ****** (front office) who stated the request was elevated to management. I haven't received any response from 72 Degrees to date. And, 72 Degrees has not performed any maintenance to date. 72 Degrees refuses to refund our payment for the maintenance plan. This is fraud, and we are requesting our money back ****.
