An appointment was scheduled on Feb. 15, 2023 to see a doctor about problems with my feet. A referral was sent from our primary doctor along with our insurance information prior to the appointment. I saw a doctor at NRO and x-rays were taken. Upon "completion" of the appointment, I was informed that they would not except my insurance. They also told me I would be billed the non insurance "full cost" for the visit. I received the "full cost" bill in the mail on 3/13/2023. I feel that this is nothing more than a "predatory business tactic". They had ample time to inform me of the insurance situation. I would have "never" scheduled the appointment had I known "ahead of time" that they would not except my insurance. I am a 75 year old married woman living on S.S. and a union pension. Their full cost bill puts a sizable dent in my monthly budget.Business response

BBB Complaint ID: *******************To Whom it May ************************************************ and her husband arrived at our practice and gave us a copy of her ********** Blue *********************************** card. The patient went back for her appointment with the surgeon. The front desk staff noticed that the billing address was ********** and went to our billing supervisor. She researched the patient's benefit plan. NRO spoke to ******* reference #*********** at BCBS ******** Advantage who adyjsed NRO there is no cut of state coverage. She notified the Voegtlys immediately that their insurance was through the ******************* and this ******** Advantage plan does have out of network benefits out not out of state coverage except for an ******************** visit.
The patient stated that they would pay for the visit that day, however, we informed them that we would work with them and make a payment plan. We did not what them to worry about the cost of the visit at that moment in time. ****************** stated he would call their agent and call NRO with what the agent says about this plan. ****************** did not call NRO after his conversation with his agent. According to ******* of BCBS, ******************* will not have coverage in the **************** other than ******************** visits. We are still hoping to work with the patient concerning a payment plan. Please feel free to contact me should you have and questions.
