My mom is in the hospital and she has been trying to cancel her subscription for over a year and the rude person on the phone says that it cannot be canceled. She received a letter threatening her to take legal means for a bill that she refuses to pay because she h tried multiple times to cancel her subscription. She signed up to receive free magazines for a year and then they billed her even though she told them that she wanted to cancel. She is unable to pay the bill sent to her due to her financial circumstances. She has never had any service that could not be canceled. This is unacceptable and she feels harrassed.

I am trying to discontinue my subscription and they will not comply

We purchased an ad for$375 and have not received the proof of advertising. We have sent many emails for a refund/or proof of ad. We have been ghosted since February 2nd.

I was told that I would pay $66.40 and get a bunch of magazines and receive a new IPad. When the paperwork came it said 15 monthly payments of $66.40. I have an extremely limited income and cant afford that every month. Called to cancel these magazines before they were to arrive but they are now harassing me over the phone and this is causing me great anxiety. I just do not want and cant afford $66.40 per month on top of living expenses.

I just received a letter a couple of days ago stating I ordered their magazines which I completely forgot about. I tried to call and cancel but since the letter was sent on the third all that could be done is to lower my payment which I specifically said I could not afford right now.

I can NOT believe that this guy ***************************** is still active with this company and scamming people in 2021 . . . AND this company still has a B rating from the BBB? Absurd. Countrywide Periodicals scammed me in 2009 when I was a young college student. They have a slick and misleading script (if not outright fraudulent script) claiming to be affiliated with my credit card company. They offer you some kind of watch (which is never sent to you) and free magazines if you pay $3.83 a month for a certain magazine and you can cancel at any time. Then scammer #1 gives you over to scammer #2 who asks you if scammer #1 was providing good customer **********************. This is all part of their script to get you to trust them. They run through their "terms of service" really quickly on the phone so you don't have time to fully understand or comprehend. I swear to God they tell you that you have 30 days to cancel, but then they say you really have 3 days to cancel.So let me get this straight -- their business model is that they pre-pay for over $750 worth of magazines that you supposedly ordered (which is bull because, if you look at what I wrote above, they promise that you are only paying $3.83 a month and can cancel any time), and then you have THREE DAYS to cancel before you are, in their eyes, on the hook for almost $1000 worth of magazines? No one in their right mind would ever agree to something like that, that's absurd.I didn't think anything of this when I paid them until I noticed that for 3 months in a row they were charging me $33 a month. I got my bank's fraud department on the phone, we tried two of this company's numbers which are always busy. The fraud specialist stopped payment and blocked them from charging me again - but they still got me for $100. Cut to, like 2 or 3 years letter, they sent my account to collections. Some "Interstate Recovery Services" (probably also owned by this *************************, if I had to guess) tried telling me that I owe them $750 for magazines. I laughed and sent them a certified letter with my response (which I will not write here because I don't want to clue-in Countrywide Periodicals on why their 'contracts' are legally bogus) and never heard from them again.I hope that everyone who is called by these guys immediately hangs up, googles the company, and finds this review.And let this be a direct message to BBB -- ************* and EVERY company owned by ***************************** of *******, deserves an F for being a bonafide scam.
