My cars cruise control was just randomly turning on while I was driving so we took my car to be looked at at Christian Brothers. They kept it for a week. They had to hook it up to two different diagnostic computers to try and figure out the issue. They printed out 14 pages worth of stuff that my car needed. (All mileage related factory recommendations) None of it addressed the problem I took it in for, not one time did anybody pop a hood or look behind a dashboard or actually do any mechanic work! It was literally computerlabor they did not fix a single thing and then we had to pay $900 to get my car back only paying for the time they spent hooking up my my vehicle to the computer diagnostics. I took my car back to another reputable mechanic, who actually took the time to dismantle my dashboard, and look for the problem only to find a frayed wire that they fixed in 30mins with a couple dollar part.They also said they could address and ABS problem that Christian brothers said was impossible to fix and the part was recalled for $700 and my car is actually gonna be fixed within 24 hours.

Took my Tahoe in to have headlight bulbs replaced. They quoted me $450. This is a job that takes less than an hour and cost of parts is minimal. I have yet to understand how they arrived at that cost. Flabbergasted by this amount, I took my Tahoe to a garage less than 200 yards away and had the work done for $133 (replaced the bulb in both headlights and running lights). With the other shop, parts were ~$35 and labor (1 hour) was ~$85. I have yet to figure out how they calculated a cost of $450. I am thankful that I was the one who took my Tahoe in and not my wife. I am afraid she would have paid the ridiculous amount. I fear that CB is taking advantage of people who don't know how much something should cost. I understand there can be variations in pricing, but when you are charging more than 3x the standard rate, that is obscene. I have asked for an explanation as to how the $450 quote was calculated, but as of yet, have received nothing.
