    My husband (******* ******* ***) passed away on 3/21/23. We had his services at Austin Layne Mortuary on March 30, 2023. The family of the deceased is responsible for dropping off the proof for the obituaries and picking up the printed copies through ******** ******** print shop. We pre-paid for the obituaries and did not owe anything out of pocket when we picked them up. However, there was a difference in how much we pre-paid and the invoice that was given to us by ******** ******** print shop. Austin Layne billed us $271.60 for 200 bifold obituaries, the invoice from ******** ******** total was $229.35. A difference of $42.25. We inquired with our funeral director Dr. ***** about receiving a refund for the difference and he directed us to contact Ms. ********. We called Ms. ******** last week on April 10, 2023 she stated she would need to research the situation and she would follow-up with us. We opted for a 5% loan cash advance for the services, so the services should be paid in full. Also, Austin Layne does not pick up or drop off the obituaries, so there should be no additional fees (i.e. fuel/delivery) for the obituaries. Thank you in advance for your help.

    My family experience with this Funeral was disappointing to say the least. The staff was Unethical in its business Practices. Completely unprofessional. It is a federal law that a funeral cannot refuse to receive a casket that was not purchased with that funeral home. my family was treated unethically because we choose to purchase a casket from the casket company. The Director assigned to our family was disrespectful, and cold hearted to our sister. She had my sister to help the delivery driver remove our brother's casket from the truck, unpack it and load all the packaging in her car and not put it in the funeral trash bin.Then told her it was her responsibility to move the casket into the funeral home, Then, told her to take it to the casket storeroom. Then after all this she called and said that my sister had damaged the casket, then the day the family was coming to view and release the body for viewing. She called one hour before time for us to be at the funeral home to tell us that our brother will not fit in the casket. We paid the funeral cost and for the services in full via cashier check. We feel that this is highly unethical as well as breaking a federal Law. My family has used this Funeral home for all of our families down through the years. This is why will feel so disappointed, and disrespected. we feel that ******************** should apologies to our family, and she never be allowed to service any other families in any capacity. No family should have to go through any added pain during this difficult time. We hope that these complaints will help this funeral serve other families with dignity as well as with respect. And we want to know How many other families are asked to unload their loved one's casket package and haul away the trash in their cars. and then move it into the funeral home. We paid in full, for a service and our sister was asked to carry out duties as if she was an employee there.
