Initially when hired was very responsive and was doing a good job. Now for several months have not had a response to my email, phone calls, and messages through website. When I call I get his secretary’s message saying they will get back with me. Very disappointed and upset. Their are issues that **** needs to resolve and I don’t know what to do. I do not want to hire another lawyer to get this estate closed.

I employed **** to handle my mother's estate. I live in ******* but she died in ********* without a will. He was professional and responsive in the early stages, but failed to show up to court hearings. He never filed the appraisal of my mother's possessions with the court. Next week there will be a hearing about whether to remove me as a representative of the estate. There have been two court hearings that he never told me about, and I contacted him several times about them. Long story short, the last time I had any contact with him was 8/9/21. On 11/8/21 I called to get more information about the hearing on 11/18/21 and reached his voicemail. I told the truth, which was that I did not know what to do after calling 7 times and emailing twice for explanation about what was going on beyond reporting this to the ******** Bar. Once it served him, I got a frantic phone call from him and his paralegal about 2 hours after leaving my voicemail. When I spoke to him he apologized and said he had been "procrastinating". I discovered on Friday the 12th that even though I provided him with a handwritten appraisal, he never completed a formal document, which is part of the reason why I'm in danger of being removed as a representative of the estate. I am supposed to be getting it Monday, 11/15th. He never attended two court days, and while he has said he will be at this one, I'm going to be there too. The judge needs to hear the true story about why this has taken so long and how this attorney fumbled. After paying him $4000 I did not expect to have to chase him to do his job. He He added stress to my life that I did not need, and if he and his office could respond to a voicemail in two hours because it serves them, then he has chosen to neglect me and the estate because I never got a returned phone call for three months. He has failed to place the money from my mom's estate in a bank account and left a check for $21K on his desk for a month. He failed to let me know he received it. He failed to communicate with me for 3 months. These are punishable breaches of practice. I think this guy took on too many cases, mistook my kindness for weakness and thought he could leave this be for a bit without me noticing. I am filing a complaint with the company that referred me to him as well. Think twice before hiring this guy, double the amount of time he tells you it will take to complete the word (the courts are running slowly these days) and stay on top of him. The only reason I didn't show up to his office in person is because I'm ***** miles away.
