I had storm damage. ******* began the work the first week of February. He would work limited hours but seemed to bill me for hours of work I couldn't see being accomplished. I worked out of the home during the day so trusted that he was doing the work. However after a month and 1/2, things seem to be worse than better. I finally contacted 2 other contractors to review the work and found out that nearly everything he did was done poorly and had to be redone. I have now paid $6000 towards new contractor, to correct nearly $10,000 of work I paid for to date. Hung drywall improperly, left garbage behind wall and put up drywall with out a stud to support, hung bathroom vanity with deck screws and was not secure in wall. Taping and mudding was terribly done and new contractor had to redo all the ceilings as they were drooping. He put up drywall with studs that were not attached to walls. He hung lights and left exposed areas around lights. Shower hardware was improperly put in and hot water was running non-stop for a month without my knowledge till we discovered a leak. Many more issues as well. I have tried to contact by text, phone and mail with no return correspondence. I would like him to make this right as fair as possible. As stated, I am out an additional $6,000 and 3 additional months of work and my contractor is still finding issues and repairing them. He has kept detailed pictures and explanations of work needing to be re-doneBusiness response

There are several issues with this complaint and Ill go through them in order.
1. Her stating I work limited hours is insinuating I charged her for more hours then i worked, which is incorrect. She was charged only for the work done and for the materials as agreed from the beginning.
2. I agreed to areas that needed to be fixed on the drywall (mostly the inside corners) and informed her that I would fix and and paint. But she didnt want to wait till the flooring came in (she told me it was supposed to be in on Monday, then when i got there on Monday she told me it would be four weeks. I was not worth my time to travel for a partial day (which i had to do more than once already due to materials not being in when I was told they would) so I told her i would fix the walls once the flooring came in, because I knew I would be there. She was also mad because i refused to start a new project (can lights in kitchen) till after the basement project was finished.
3. I have no idea what she talking about with drywall to studs not attached to walls (unless she's talking about patching between areas where a board was added behind the drywall to hold the new drywall to the old which is a common practice.
4. The vanity she picked was something offline and did not have hardware to hand to wall. And due to the plumbing that was installed for a typical pedestal sink/vanity, I secured the vanity to the stud in the wall and yes i used exterior screws since wanted a longer screw and the floating vanity contained no mounting screws. And the electicians had to move the light box due the change of the vanity, which is why you see the drywall repair above.
5. I did not install any lights, the electricians did, so she is wrong there.
6.I did not work on the plumbing of the showers, I only replaced missing tiles and put on aftermarket shower hardware (since she or the plumber threw out the originals). So i dont know what she's talking about with the showers running hot water.7. The wall that is pictured with patches are two walls that were already existing, and they already had issues, and repair of those wasn't asked till after the paint was on. And I informed her I would, and when I got to the job site the next morning she had attempted to patch areas throughout the house (which created more sanding issue due to her patching too thick)
8. She also attempted to blame me for drywall damage in the kitchen. She told me it caved in, which I only retaped where the tape had popped (so i simply removed the popped tape and replaced. In no way would a ceiling collapse.
Due to all her claims its seemed to me that she was trying to get me to pay for her project. She was claiming water damage on the insurance, but it seemed to me she was trying to get a home remodel on their pocket. She complained about the costs a few times, but she kept adding things (that would cost more) to the project. Instead of cleaning a toilet she bought a new one. After all I experienced and her claims against me, its just seemed to me that she realized the insurance wasn't going to pay for all the things she was having done so she was trying to get me to give her money. The estimates she sent from the 'other contractor' had an estimate for the drywall touchup labor that was more than she was charged from me for labor to frame and drywall the basement. The estimate seemed to me to be either a exaggerated invoice (where the contractor wrote a higher cost than it would) or he charged way too much. At this point others in my field agreed with me that they thought she was trying to swindle me and to break off contact.
I will not pay for any of these claims she is requesting. To me every claim she has (except the touch up on drywall I installed) is not mine to address. And she chose to bring in another contractor, and didn't allow me to fix my mistakes, but she expects me to pay more for work than she paid me to do. To me I am done with this, and her.

There are several issues with this complaint and Ill go through them in order.
1. Her stating I work limited hours is insinuating I charged her for more hours then i worked, which is incorrect. She was charged only for the work done and for the materials as agreed from the beginning.*yes, I was charged and paid for services but after much time he took off, I brought in another contractor to help with some things that couldn't wait any longer. I had 2 contractors come in and review Guiett's repairs. They found many issues. Improper installation, broken and damaged areas, and when basement drywall was found not to be properly installed, the drywall was removed and found that the framing was improperly installed. I sent pictures to him and to BCC showing all the issues. He chose not to respond which lead to me hiring someone else and having to pay for all the work to be redone
She was also mad because i refused to start a new project (can lights in kitchen) till after the basement project was finished.*No, I didn't want him to wait to repair drywall and finish painting until the floor was installed. I spoke to multiple contractors that agreed to that process. He opted to take other jobs while working on mine and left me in a lull for over a week. In that time, he could have repaired the dining room ceiling, finished putting in the lighting, etc. He just decided to take another job. At this point, I had already been without use of over 60% of my home for 3 months. In addition, he could have finished up touchups during that week time but again, opted to take on another client. This happened a few times throughout the job. I stayed patient until I started to see shotty work.
3. I have no idea what she talking about with drywall to studs not attached to walls (unless she's talking about patching between areas where a board was added behind the drywall to hold the new drywall to the old which is a common practice.*I will provide pictures again. I already sent him pictures and videos of issues but he opted to either block me or just not respond.
And the electicians had to move the light box due the change of the vanity, which is why you see the drywall repair above.* A true licensed contractor should have been able to adjust accordingly. He opted to take short cuts. He installed the vanity with deck screws...which he used throughout my basement in many area. In addition, he did not mount with proper anchoring. He also installed the sink the wrong direction which was pushing against the faucet and scratched the faucet. The new contractor had no issue hanging it properly and putting the sink on the right direction. Again, I have plenty of pictures and my contractor will be able to provide additional comments to this.
5. I did not install any lights, the electricians did, so she is wrong there.* He didn't install the lights but he cut the ceiling and he cut the areas too big which left gaps.
6.I did not work on the plumbing of the showers, I only replaced missing tiles and put on aftermarket shower hardware (since she or the plumber threw out the originals). So i dont know what she's talking about with the showers running hot water.*He did replace the hardware in the shower. He refused to work with what I wanted (it may be above his knowledge to do) so I went with something simple. However, the either over tightened something or used a broken piece. In addition, the tiles he installed are crooked and cracked. I have pics of these too.
7. The wall that is pictured with patches are two walls that were already existing, and they already had issues, and repair of those wasn't asked till after the paint was on. And I informed her I would, and when I got to the job site the next morning she had attempted to patch areas throughout the house (which created more sanding issue due to her patching too thick)* I patched to show that there were hundreds of problems with the walls. My new contractor, to keep my cost down, ended up using texturing to paint all the walls because there were so many problems with his work.
8. She also attempted to blame me for drywall damage in the kitchen. She told me it caved in, which I only retaped where the tape had popped (so i simply removed the popped tape and replaced. In no way would a ceiling collapse.

To me I am done with this, and her.*I didn't say he damaged the ceiling drywall in the kitchen. I stated that he simply taped and didn't look to see that the damage was more serious and taping and mudding wasn't going to be sufficient. I was left with a huge whole in my main level ceiling for 6 months because it finally gave way.
*I had reached out to him originally just to pay for the repainting that needed to be done because of all of his mistakes (basement only). As my contractor found more and more issues, and the repairs ended up being $6k over my insurance coverage (over and above the new areas which I had paid out of pocket, not from insurance). At this point, I had to put off replacing my main level floors because he left me with such a mess...new things he installed and repairs to the damaged areas. Again...I have pictures and can get documentation from new contractor and additional contractor that I had review the work.
*He may be done with me, but I want to make sure he never works on another person's home and leaves them with the damage and expenses he left me. Please remove his BBB title and put a warning up. I am a single mom of 5. I trusted him way more than I should have. I don't want others to fall into this trap.

So, as I understand the last message, just because Guiette replied, he is able to keep a good rating with BBB even though he took me for over $6000? You will let him continue to do poor, shady, and all around unsafe job?
