8 months after I paid for my glasses (insurance paid them 7 months ago), Clarkson decided I didn't pay enough. The invoice is so convoluted, that no one can figure out what is being charged exactly. Customer service was not helpful. In 30 years, I've never had an issue with this....not until Clarkson bought the place.

Unfortunately we do not see a sale of glasses in our system for this patient. The last time there was an invoice for this patient was September of 2023 and there were no materials purchased at that time. If the patient would like to reach out to the office, or our corporate offices for clarification we would be more than happy to assist in any way we can.

On February 6, 2024, I purchased glasses and a year of contacts in the amount of $561.68 I received my glasses and Im still waiting on my contacts. Ive called soooo many times. The manager has promised to call me back, I never received a call or I was left on hold and no one came back on the line. I asked if I could please get the money returned that I paid for the contacts. They keep saying they will contact corporate and let me know. Im desperate. I just am asking to refund me for a product I never received.

We apologize to this patient for the delay in her order. From time to time there can be back orders on products however the office should be keeping the patient aware of these circumstances. We have escalated this to the office manager and the district manager of this location who will be looking into this for the patient.

I had an eye exam at Clarkson Eyecare in *********. This included the Widefield Retinal Imaging. This was explained to me it would be extra which I agreed to. At the completion of the exam. I was billed the following:New Patient Comp $50.00 ********* Retinal Imaging $39.00 Total $89.00 Which I payed in full with my cc...Now 2 month later they have sent me a bill and added another $69.00 to my bill that was already paid in full at the time of service.I don't understand what there trying to pull...But, it seems very shady. Consumer beware !!!!

We apologize to this patient for the confusion. The insurance that was given to us on the day of this patient's exam denied his claim stating that there is another insurance that should be billed first. The office attempted to reach out to this patient to gather that information on 2/22/2024 per the note in the patient's chart and when no response was received a statement for the exam amount was sent to the patient on 3/25/2024 and again on 4/1/2024. We encourage this patient to reach out either to the location they were seen at or to our corporate offices at 636-227-2600 x. 0 so that we can assist in getting this resolved.

I purchased a pair of glasses 1 week ago as a self pay patient. Not even 1 week later they are scratched, and the optician at the western hills **** location said because I didnt purchase the eyewear protection it would cost me to replace the lens. There are no guarantees or replacement period with their products. Well I guess Im out $400 because I cant wear these as is. Live and learn and do your research people as I found out there are several complaints against this company and they are not members of the BBB

      Clarkson Eyecare Response

      03/27/2024

We apologize for the frustration that this patient has experienced. Unfortunately, the manufacturer's warranty that covers a purchase for 30 days does not cover scratches on lenses for glasses. While most of our lenses do come standard with an anti-scratch coating, no lenses are scratch proof and can be scratched depending on how the glasses are stored, if they are worn while participating in an activity where they could be damaged or dropped. We have sent this review to the district manager of this location who will work with the office to see if a solution can be reached for this patient.

I went to Clarkson in ***** ****. I got my exam and waited for my glasses and contacts. I never received a call that my products were in. My glasses that I bought broke n the left frame. I returned them asked them to be fixed. I had paid the insurance. I paid the 10 fee. This happened to the glasses 3 times. They say theyreplaced them but each time I came in it took them at least 10 minutes each time because they were gluing them back together because I could smell the dam glue. They now say that my insurance for the coverage in the glasses to be fixed is expired . These were never replaced only glued. This is a horrible place they were very disrespectful not willing to replace them instead gluing them. Im an Amazon driver I need my glasses I paid for them. I asked for a managers number or someone they could give me a number to so I can speak to a higher up person. The lady said her manager wasnt there and I could give them my number so the district manager could call me. They would not allow me to have any one to talk to. The lady who said there manager isnt there got another younger lady to come out and try to say she was the manager. That is ridiculous. This is a waste of money, time, energy and rude. I just want new glasses that I paid for without them breaking. At anytime they could have asked if I wanted a different pair or different manufacturers. They didnt. This could have been handled calmly and professionally but instead I got the run around, lied to , disrespected and down right scammed.

We apologize to this patient for their frustration with our product. Our records indicate that this patient purchased a pair of eyewear from ** in February 2014, and that this eyewear was replaced for the first time in November 2023 using the warranty that this patient purchased at the time of sale, as the frame was out of timeframe (30 days) for a manufacturer/defective warranty. Records also indicate as the patient described, that this frame was again replaced again on 1/22/2024, this time at no cost to the patient. We are sending this review to the office manager of the location, as well as to the district manager of the location as well to look into this patient's complaint as the indication from the patient's review that the frames were never replaced but were glued and that the patient paid for this service in November is concerning. We thank this patient for the feedback and their patience while we further research into this patient's orders with our office and frame vendors.

They got my eyeglasses wrong twice. Trying to get them done for the third time, but after 4 weeks waiting, the office manager called and texted the district manager to know what to do, and the district manager completely ignored the store request and never replied.Today after 64 days waiting, they still have no clue what happened to the order and why they do not get delivered. I canceled the order for eyeglasses and they told me they can only refund the cost of the product but not that of the visit associated to it.2 months of waiting to get nothing other than money wasted in a useless visit and hours off of work to go back and forth from the shop. So I walk away with nothing in my hands but they made some money on me anyway.NOT PROFESSIONAL

We apologize that we were not able to help this patient with his order. While we are more than happy to refund this patient for the product that he purchased in this situation, the patient did have a comprehensive eye exam and does have an updated prescription that is good for a year and that he is free to take to another provider to have glasses made. Our doctor also re-checked this patient's prescription free of charge so that we could make sure what worked for him in the exam room was what worked for him during his day to day life. Copies of this patient's prescription and exam can be accessed by this patient at any time through our secure patient portal, or by the patient calling the office and picking up copies of his records.

Ever since they changed from BuckeyeCare, the ********* location has gone downhill. Today may have been the last time I go there. It's really a shame because I love ********************. However, the other people in the office are a different story. First they insisted that I didn't have insurance, only a discount plan. That is not the case. Once that was figured out and I had my exam, the person selling me the glasses was very dishonest and difficult to work with. I told her I was trying to find cheaper frames for my glasses and I asked what the prices were for the frames they have on display. (They used to have them in sections by price.) She said they were all mixed together and it just depends on the brand. Then she brought out a box of miscellaneous frames and said that all the frames in the box were just $99. I ended up picking one from the box and one from the shelf. When she gave me the receipt, I was looking for the $99 charge and it was not on there. They were $139.00. When I questioned her about it, she then changed her story and said the frames in the box were either $99 or $139. She did not say that originally. She knew the only reason I was trying to find a pair from the box was because she told me they were 'only $99! And why were only those discounted? Was there something wrong with them that she wasn't telling me about? My total ended up being almost $550. I wanted to pay with my HSA card. I told her I didn't have that much with me and she took my drivers license and my debit card to see if I would qualify for a payment plan. She added the cost of the office visit to the total of the glasses, which I did not want figured in with the total of the glasses. I was planning on paying for that with my HSA card, which is what I always use when I go there. I feel like I was mislead and overcharged. I have put my order on hold until I figure out what to do. I am a very disappointed and unhappy customer. I will my friends, family & social media about my experience.

We apologize for the experience that this patient had in one of our **** locations. We have reached out to the leadership of that office and are investigating with the office manager this patient's visit and experience at the location they visited. There are definite training opportunities in this patient's experience that we can take advantage of with our staff to ensure that no patient has this same experience. We thank this patient for their feedback and encourage them to reach out to our corporate offices at **************** if they have not heard back from leadership in the next 72 hours.

Purchased new prescription lenses 5 weeks ago. $270 with insurance. My last pair were bifocals with blue light filter. New order were to be same but new prescription. Tech suggested switching from blue light to anti glare with computer screens. I said im on computer and phone about 18 hours daily. He still suggested the anti glare and I gave in.2 WEEKS LATER Immediately, I asked if the bifocals were added. They said yes. For about a week, the bifocals did not help. The computer screen was difficult to read. I had double vision. Driving at night was scary! Red breaklights and headlights from vehicles, street lights were glarrring. I went back to the same location and they showed me the green light in the lenses for the anti glarre which seemed to do the complete opposite. The tech held up the glasses, said he saw bifocals. Went back to my optometrist. Said the ** not recommended for my stigmatism and eye curvature. Also, she used a machine to check my lenses, said bifocals on both lenses were very low (not prescription but to the bottom rim of the lenses). 2 WEEKS LATER, went back to Clarkson Eyecare, said they would redo the lenses w/o the anti glare replacing back to the blue light filter but another 2 weeks. 2 WEEKS LATER Picked up my lenses. Something did not seem right when looking around. I asked about the bifocals. This time he measured with a ruler, saying it's just my eyes adapting because the glassses wers made correctly. I walked to my car seeing glares. I checked for the blue light filter. Sure enough, they were both green. Once again, they added the ** coating. I returned to the store. He said during last visit, they forgot to change the order ** to blue light filter. Naturally, they took back and said to wait another 2 weeks. The insurance rep called me a big spender. I cannot help but wonder if $270 with good insurance and lower cost options was ****** charged?I feel like they should be giving me some type of inconvenience fee at this point.

The *************************** location is absolutely awful. They tried to overcharge me for my glasses. My insurance policy states that I dont pay anything for my glasses, but they told me I owed over $300. Two days of phone calls over the insurance and the bill, and they lied to me repeatedly about my insurance. Told me my insurance changed, which I knew it didnt. Told me that my insurance said that I have to pay up front and I would be reimbursed. That was a lie. Ive had the same insurance for 23 years. So I knew all of that was a lie. After a few days of arguing, and threatening to pick up my records and find a new doctor, they magically figured out my insurance. Then I waited the two weeks to get my glasses back. I called to check the status, they informed me that the glasses were never made. Then went on to apologize and said it was the insurance companies fault. Ive already been without my glasses for two weeks, now it will be another two. All of this after Ive already gotten a settlement from them on a class action lawsuit for overcharging patients. I would never recommend. And I will never go back.
