We began building our new home in 2022, we moved in on 4/27/2023. We were happy that there was a warranty period where they would come and repair any issues. M/I has been good about fixing minor issues, sometimes multiple work order tickets are needed to get the problem fully resolved.My issue is that M/I refuses to fix anything (and I have escalated) that is not finished according to the plans we signed off on. Plumbing was wrong - the disposal is on the wrong side of the sink (according to plan) exterior soffit lights were installed in the wrong soffit (according to plan). They refused to fix the sink which is inconvenient that the disposal is installed on the tiny bowl and not the larger bowl. They also refuse to fix our exterior lighting and expect that we should be OK with a light being installed that does not match the other exterior lights. AND we have also had numerous issues with our interior doors. a If you are considering M/I homes, make sure to visit your new home every day with a level and your plans. Our build was very hands off. We could not enter our home without a ** rep escorting us which was distracting because we felt rushed. We had previously built with the sister company ******************* and expected the same quality - we are disappointed. Quality control is an issue. Word of advise to M/I - fix your business plan. Do it right the first time so you don't have to do it 3 more times before it is correct - and hire a quality control person to check every, house every day while it is under construction. Maybe then you wont have to replace doors, re-do and re-level walls. Make sure the plans for each house are followed - and let the future homeowner know about any deviations to the plan so there are no surprises. Issues can be caught and resolved early to prevent extra expenses on your end.
