1 starA broken piece of the toilet's flushing assembly had caused water to cascade everywhere. Bonfe's plumber found the broken part, and offered an official quote to replace the part for $1045.00, adding that it was a job for 2 plumbers, and would take over 2 hours. If we chose to replace the whole assembly, the cost would be over $2000.00. This was so absurdly beyond common sense, we opted to look further, to see if it could be fixed for less.
The replacement part cost around $30. My wife completed the replacement in 10 minutes. It flushed like new.
Bonfe billed me $99.00 for the plumber's visit and the absurdly outrageous quote. I've appealed twice, to Bonfe, to cancel the charge, but Bonfe has not replied.
If this goes to a collection agency, I'm confident that dropping the billing will be a "no brainer".
I've submitted this review as a warning to others of Bonfe's practice of fleecing people who trust in Bonfe's ethical professional assessments and skilled, efficient, knowledgeable tradesmen (and especially to forewarn older people who might otherwise appear to be "easy marks").Review fromDave S

1 starI usually don’t leave reviews, but my experience with Bonfe was frustrating enough to warrant one. I had a second-floor tub that was slow to drain. Bonfe quoted me $180 and set an appointment for the next day.
The first Bonfe plumber, Gabe, arrived on time and was professional, but informed me that he wouldn’t snake the drain because he was “just a drain tech.” Not sure why Bonfe would send out someone that couldn't do the job. That visit cost $99, which I paid, even though no work was done.
Then a second Bonfe plumber, Jordan, showed up—also punctual and polite—but shocked me with a $7,000 quote to cut into walls and replace all the piping. When I asked if he could just snake it, he said yes… for $400. That’s over a 94% increase from the original estimate, which I declined.
I called Bonfe to request a refund or at least get some clarification and was told a manager would call me back in two business days. Apparently I am out $100 for two visit that didn’t solve anything.
In contrast, I called McQuillan Home Service. They quoted me $220. Brian came out the same day, fixed the slow drain, and was very professional—no upsell, no drama. He even knocked off $50 and applied a $35 coupon for next time.
Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend Bonfe. There are better, more transparent options out there.Review fromE. S.

2 starsThe plumber Brian was great. Customer service reps were kind and polite. This is the reason for two stars. Ultimately, cannot recommend due to unreliable service due to poor communication and follow through and outlandish prices. Would otherwise give one star if not for the very pleasant staff.
Have not received an emailed or mailed invoice for service. Note that our price was "discounted" with the monthly "membership" that we have to have for at least a year ($11 / month). Will be formally cancelling that once I finally receive the invoice I requested. I am certain from other reviews they will use any "tune up" or "inspection" visits to try and sell unnecessary and overpriced services.
Bonfe has demonstrated repeated poor communication and unreliability over the past five days. I am a patient and kind person, but unresponsiveness and unreliability make any future Bonfe business a solid no. Find someone local who actually needs your business and is small enough to value their reputation.
The no showed without notification first day when I waiting ALL day for them to come out. I foolishly rescheduled. Then they didn't pick up the old toilet the same day as service as they promised they would. All around disappointing and pathetic service outside of the plumber doing a quick replacement (although extremely overpriced).
I have received zero communication since they picked up the toilet. It is unfortunate and unacceptable that I have not received any further acknowledgement or communication of any kind. I feel it is completely reasonable that a company would have their manager follow up PROMPTLY (within one business day) with a customer where they have repeatedly dropped the ball.
I expect and deserve better. Every customer does.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer

Hi *********,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Were sorry for the miscommunication and for not fully understanding the urgency of removing the old unit. That was our oversight, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Weve shared your concerns with our team, and our call center manager has left a few voicemails to follow up. Please give us a call back at the number he provided so that we can connect and help make sure everything is taken care of.E. S.

The response is not acceptable. Bonfe apologizes for not understanding the urgency of removing the old unit? I do not see how multiple people being told multiple times that "I live in a condo and the toilet cannot stay outside overnight" can be misunderstood. Further, cancelling my initial appointment when I waited ALL DA?Y without notification doesn't warrant a response either? Further, Bonfe has NOT responded to multiple subsequent requests via email to provide me with an electronic copy of my receipt as we did not receive a paper one as everything is done via tablet with the plumber. AND Bonfe has not called and left multiple messages. They claimed the same thing yesterday when they left the same canned response to a review I left on a different site. I don't know what number they were calling and where they were leaving messages, but the number is not mine nor have I received any voicemails or missed calls from Bonfe (or anyone in the last week except one spam call this morning that left a "voicemail" that only consisted of an intermittent high pitched "beep" for 35 seconds). Bonfe is either intentionally lying about calling me and leaving messages or being incompetent and calling the incorrect number. They certainly had the right number to call me on Tuesday morning, Tuesday evening, and Wednesday morning for the install and removal. Bonfe could at least demonstrate some integrity by responding to the email conversation that I initially sent to the on the evening of the install when they failed to pick up the old toilet. I received an initial response to that complaint email asking if I wanted a response from a manager. I stated I did. I have since replied multiple more times to that same email and have received ZERO response. ********.Review fromTammy A

1 starWhile the service tech was professional and on time when I scheduled an appt to fix leaky water softner, I was quoted $692 for the repair which amounted to putting tape near bypass valve around threads. TAPE. There was NO disassembly involved. After questioning why taping it would cost that much- he knocked it down to $392. I was charged nearly $400 for him to come out and put some tape on it. A 10 min job. No new parts, no disassembly, never ran water softener to even check if all was repaired. I understand the service call and a charge but it was tape. And he quoted me $4000 to replace said working water softner as an option for a 1200 square foot townhome- 1 shower. It wasn’t a new one that I even needed. I don’t need the cheapest price- just a fair price. He wasn’t even honest about what needed to be fixed. As I put in the original service request- it was the bypass valve that needed replacing- a 50-75 part. By replacing that part, it would fix the issue with the thread that he chose to tape up instead. Tired of you service people ripping off consumer.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer

1 starI want to alert others to the fact Bonfe came and charged $99 dollars for an electrical quote to replace an outlet. They came back with quote of $1200 which was 5 times or more than other quotes. I am trying to protect people who only get one quote, as Bonfe is a complete rip off!Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer

Hi ****,Were sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your electrical quote and that Bonfe was not the right fit for your outlet replacement. Our $99 service charge is waived if you choose to move forward with work and includes the cost of dispatching an insured, licensed electrician in a stocked truck, ready to complete work on-site immediately to code. All Bonfe repairs are backed by a Lifetime Warranty. We understand that there are other options available and hope you were able to find what you were looking for.Review fromTerry H

1 starI am writing Bonfe a check for $110 tonight to cancel a junk membership fee. I am paying $110 because I signed for an invoice on an ipad like device after a technician had replaced my failed water heater on December 19, 2024. Before replacing my water heater, the technician gave me three options ranging from about $3,200 to around $5,000 with the difference attributable to the length of the warranty. I chose the lowest cost option. I asked for a copy of the invoice, which the technician said would be emailed. An email finally arrived on January 20, 2025. It arrived only because I called Bonfe’s customer service to inquire about another email invoice I received requesting payment for an $11 monthly membership fee. After sending the invoice, Bonfe’s representative politely asked for a credit card number to pay my fee. When I questioned her about the fee, she pointed to the 12-month membership included on the invoice she just sent me. I explained that I was not told about the required Bonfe membership, which she again referred me to the invoice I had not had a chance to look at yet. When I argued with her, she said she would reach out to the technician and billing department. I am writing this review today because I again received an invoice to pay my $11 membership fee. Worse yet, I learned at ******************************* that “Coverage will automatically continue after the initial one-year term unless cancelled in writing by either Homeowner or Company.” So unless I send Bonfe a letter cancelling my membership, apparently I am stuck with it til death do us part. Seems like there should be a law against such practices.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer

*****,We're very sorry to hear about this experience and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. We pride ourselves on our transparency, integrity, and professionalism and it sounds like we missed the mark here. We sincerely apologize for the miscommunication between our technician and the lack of explanation about our membership program. It is never our intention to deceive a homeowner into signing on for our maintenance plan, and we're more than happy to cancel your plan. You can expect a call from our Plumbing Manager this afternoon to discuss your experience so we can learn where we dropped the ball and use it to improve our services. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We value your business and hope to earn your trust back!Review fromAnnie L

1 starI was in panic mode after a burst pipe in my basement & made an appointment with Bonfe before doing my due diligence. I have since discovered that they significantly overcharged me. Including charging almost $700 to locate the leak & clean the area, which I had already done. Before realizing this, the plumber convinced me to sign up for a membership so I could get my furnace serviced for free. We set up the appointment. I was told to be home for 13 hours for both appointments, absolutely ridiculous. Then they said they would give a 30 min warning. It is not a warning. They called, when I didn’t return the call in 10 mins they cancelled the appointment & are now ignoring me. Guess I won’t be getting that “free” service after all. Horrendous customer service, overpriced & a scam all rolled into one.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer

Hi *****,We apologize for any miscommunication during what sounds like a stressful situation. To clarify, the cost you mention included our plumber removing and replacing the section of damaged piping and returning it to operation, before installing a new shutoff valve. We do not ask customers to stay home and wait for us; in fact, we encourage the opposite. We call 30 minutes before the technician is due to arrive at your home, but we do need to hear back from you 10 minutes after we make that call to keep our schedule moving. Since we were unable to reach you, and you did not call back, we had to move our technician to another job to keep his day moving. We'd be happy to get you back on the schedule for your complimentary tune-up and will have someone from the office give you a call to set up an appointment!Review fromKeheung A

1 starWe had a clogged kitchen sink. Other company we called stated $99 charge to come out and then depending on what's needed would get additional charge, Bonfe had a flat rate of $189 so we went with Bonfe.
First day timeframe to come out was 8-12pm. We get a call at 2pm stated they had an emergency and will not be on site until the next day. 2nd day, technician comes out and doesn't provide any other option and says a better will be used and it will be $350 dollars. However they graciously provided us $25 from the day before. Snakes, and jets then "breaks" a head. 3rd day they come out again and says that the clog is too clogged and needs a camera though the pipe. Charges my wife $325 and a new guy with a camera comes and says yep it's clogged will need to snake and jet but no guarantees. Tries to charge us another $325. I speak with the manager at this point and express my frustration and terrible business practice. They said a guarantee would be a plumber to come out and make an access at the basement. Plumber comes out and quotes us $935 for an access. Cuts 3 holes in my drywall and says can't find it then leaves.
Says we will send another technician on Monday (this is Friday at this point) to snake and jet for free. I goto Home Depot and rent a 75 self feeding snake and work on it for 3 hours and able to break through the gunk to get the flow. It's Monday today and another technician comes out and says only a snake was complimentary and another jetting would cost me $325. Needless to say I didn't jet. Would you use this plumbing company? Now I will go work on repairing my drywall holes x3.Review fromJoelle K

1 starThe plumber was very nice but the estimate was very high. To replace a tub spout with shower diverter was $636. He wanted half down and I gave him $300. Our fixtures are oiled bronze so we looked on line for a replacement. He found one for < $80. I told him that seemed really low priced and after lots of looking, I discovered it was plastic. I told him I did not want plastic. I looked again and found one. It was >$100 told him about it and he ordered it. After way too much digging I found this one was plastic too. I guess he forgot to mention that part. He had ordered it and said he could not return it. I told him if he could not find a metal one then I wouldn’t replace it. I called Bonfe and told them the situation and they said my request would be sent to the manager and that they would call me back soon. They obviously called the plumber because the next call I got was from him. He stated that he had spent 20 hours looking for a spout and I had wanted the one he could not return so we should not expect a refund. He was probably harassed by someone at Bonfe to get me to be satisfied and forget the $300. Well I am not satisfied. They made more money then I do for the time he spent and I save lives for a living.Review fromSara G

1 starTerrible costumer service. I had scheduled my appointment online and had a staff member call me the day before our appointment to confirm our all day appointment (7am-8pm), which I did. I have two small children and we have a busy house (especially in the am)…I missed their call saying they were dispatching a technician. Apparently I needed to answer that call bc they ended up giving me 20 min and then canceled my (2 hour appointment slot/which most likely wouldn’t have taken that long)…we were home and waiting for the tech.
I am very disappointed as we were expecting them and thought by making an appointment, confirming the day before would have ensured us our technician’s visit. DO NOT recommend.
