I used this service once to get my driveway plowed. This is the very first time I had ever called a service to plow my driveway as I was too frugal to do it to this point. After he plowed, I got a message saying "he was pretty sure they got the right house last night and if the work was satisfactory?" I was a liittle concerned he wasn't sure if it was the right house as I had clearly given him my address. They didn't plow all the way to my garage and also didn't shovel all the way to the front door and I only asked him about the front door and if they could please make sure to do that next time. Anyway, I brushed that aside and since I was looking for a service to use as needed (on call/on demand) I asked him if that was an option along with if he had a minimum to come out to plow (like 3 inches, etc.). He texted back that that my message was "clumslly worded" as he apparently took offense to the word "command." He said that he "could not fathom providing his time, expertise, and quality of work to someone who fancy themselves the ability to "command me to do so." I apologized if it came across the wrong way as I was only trying to get more specific information and I didn't mean it whatsover as a power play. I am a respectful person just trying to get information so I can give him money for a servic, that is it. I was only trying to get more information so I could use his business in a more regular basis. It was the day after a storm, and he seemed extremely stressed out and perhaps abused recently by customers. I couldn't even reason with him. I apologized and he just wrote me off saying "I choose my clients every bit as much as they choose me. There's no power dynamic." So here is maybe the biggest issue and potential complaint: He also charged for shoveling and for a fuel surcharge even though he said the snow shoveling was included and never mentioned a fuel surcharge. Overall, this was poor communication and poor and unethical business practice.
