            I signed the contract and put the $5,000 down on February 12, 2021. The contract does not say the deposit is nonrefundable. I was told via email from Matt that the basement finishing would commence somewhere between mid-March and early April. I emailed Matt several times asking for updates. He came out to the house and did some measurements and said he would email me a drawing/layout of the basement. Around Mid-March when I still did not have an actual start date, did not receive any drawings and was told that Matt is on vacation the first week of April, I decided that I would go with another contractor so that the project could start in a timely fashion. Matt emailed me agreeing on termination and refunding the deposit, less any time he had on it, which he indicated was not much. No permits or anything were pulled. No work was done except coming out and doing some measurements. After Matt agreed on returning the deposit, one of the principals of the company is now refusing to do so.
