Our gas was shut off due to two small leaks in the system. A technician came over and informed us that we needed to replace all our gas lines - which run all over the basement. Starting cost: $450 - for two small leaks. Unbelievable!

Thank you for reaching out in regards to our recent visit to look at the gas line repairs. As our technician explained while on-site, there has already been one repair coupling installed and with the way the piping was installed originally, it is not conducive to an easy repair. When we run into situations like yours the line replacement is unfortunately the only true option, so that the leaks are fixed permanently and the line itself meets current code requirements.

I think they're the worst plumbing company in Lansing and the most expensive

Thanks for reaching out today and I'm sorry that you are not happy with our drain service work on 11/28. The only feedback we have received since that time is a 5* survey you left that same day, so it's a little confusing as to the little bit of info you left on this review. As the drain tech noted at the time of the work, we were able to get temporary flow to the main drain line but there are multiple issues going on with that drain where it leaves the house. Compounding the issue were all of the wipes we pulled from the drain as well as the extensive grease build-up, which the tech noted at the time. We would be happy to discuss this further if you would like, and you can contact the service department at ************ and ask for *****************************.

No longer a family owned business and will refer you to their “sister company” Service Professor. Had problems with roots in my sewer line that Hedlund missed and somehow 3 months later my line needs to be replaced for $18k? Skip the scams and pushy service techs of higher priced items and find someone else.

Thank you for reaching out in regards to our recent visit to look at the plugged main drain line between the house and the road. I'm a little unclear about your comments saying we missed the tree roots 3 months ago, because the call in September was for a plugged toilet. We ran the closet auger through it to clear the line and tested everything out at that time. There was zero indication of tree roots in September and no notes from the call stating you were experiencing any whole house drain issues. When our technician was out on 11/25 the whole house drain was ion fact backed up with tree roots, but it was completely unrelated to the original trip in September. On 11/25 we were able to temporarily restore flow to the drain line and with the video camera confirm the root situation. We also cleared the section of line between the basement and exterior clean out fitting to ensure proper flow, at least on a temporary basis. We explained that these roots will absolutely return and many of our customers look for a long term solution instead of having to deal with a plugged sewer line on a regular basis, which is where the pipe lining comes in. In our 83 years of business we never have and never will operate with 'scams and pushy service techs'. In this situation you have multiple choices for a repair...1. Auger out the sewer line 2. Water jet the line to more thoroughly remove the roots 3. Dig up the existing sewer line from the house to the street or 4. Install a trenchless sewer liner for the best long term solution. Our job as a professional plumbing contractor is to present those options and educate the customer for the best solution to meet their needs. That's it. I'm sorry our recent visit was not a good experience, and we do value this feedback as it will help us improve our communication with our customers to ensure we are educating them properly for the various solutions. One other fact is that Hedlund Plumbing is still a family run business, but since we do not have the pipe lining equipment we have partnered with a leading company out of Grand Rapids, who has years of experience with this process. This again is a great fit for some customers who are looking for a permanent solution on the tree roots without digging up the entire front yard.
