Customer approached us needing a vehicles under $10,000 for a specific Elga loan. Salesperson showed vehicles that were available and she drove and checked out the said vehicle. She was made well aware and signed documents stating the vehicle as being sold AS-IS. Customer approached after the sale saying she was having troubles and we offered to discount service if she wanted to have it looked at but declined the offer. Lasco Ford was contacted by **** Credit unit stating the customer was being forced into the vehicle. **** was informed that we only followed their approval which limited the $10,000 parameter and Loan to Value amount of 80% and this vehicle fit those parameters. The customer came to ********************, we did not bring the vehicle to them and they had every opportunity to pass on the vehicle and not purchase it. Unfortunately, an AS-IS vehicle in this case has no warranty and the dealer can't take on the risks after the sale.Initial Complaint

Purchased a "Certified Pre *********** SQ5 in August of 2024.After driving it 6 hours home, we took it to ************** where a lot of preexisting issues were found. **** has agreed to fix the issues, which surpasses the value of the vehicle, but will not cover the $1000 owed for a rental while the vehicle has been at Royal being repaired. I tried returning the vehicle, which was within it's return window, and was told "no, we will get it taken care of."Apparently that doesn't include them paying for a rental while the faulty vehicle is repaired.Business Response

To whom it may concern,
Dealer got all items covered under **** Warranty. The rental agreement is between the dealer they chose for the repair, our service manager reached out to that dealer to ask them to Goodwill the rental coverage but it is up to them to make that decision, it is out of our hands not being the ones doing the warranty repairs.
Respectfully,Lasco Ford

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of why I am rejecting this response appear below:
The vehicle was sold with preexisting issues, selling dealership refused to take the vehicle back and assured me it would be "taken care of."
Taken care of does not mean me having to spend out of pocket for them selling something with structural damage.

The vehicle passed the standard safety inspection that was required for the included warranty coverage. Things can change depending on the concerns that arose in a short period of time, regardless the items were covered. Lasco Ford not being the servicing dealer can't cover rental cars for another dealer that determined the vehicle needed these repairs and has the choice to cover the rental vehicle with their profit from the repairs.Customer Answer

I have a copy of the inspection, which did not accurately represent the vehicle sold, and I can provide a detailed report of all of the issues it had that were marked as "good condition", when they were in fact, broken or structurally compromised.

Once again, the customer is getting full repairs under warranty. The concern is being resolved and paid for by the warrant. The rental agreement is between the servicing dealer and the customer, they to come to an agreement on the rental coverage we have no control.Customer Answer

Once again, it was sold with PRE-EXISTING ISSUES. None of what has been repaired is something that mysteriously goes out, or rusts away within a month of ownership. Refusing to let us return the vehicle, and then expecting US to cover a rental is absurd, for issues WE did NOT CAUSE.
If it were something we caused, sure. But, again, we were sold the vehicle with these issues and were continually reassured they would be taken care of.

I think you all need to change your business practices and think about the customers even if they don't end up leaving with their new car (i.e. the car loan isn't granted) because leaving there and seeing 7 hard credit checks on my credit report was very disappointing and infuriating. They don't fall off the report for 2 whole years. Whoever thought it was a good idea to run 7 hard credit checks needs to be fired immediately. I'm still outraged by this and continue to receive letters in the mail that I don't want or care about regarding this. I really don't think running 7 hard credit checks is fair to the consumer. Please reconsider your choices and make a better system for the customers because that can really hurt their credit. It's just not a fair thing to do to anyone. Therefore; this complaint is 100% warranted. I would like my credit report corrected ASAP and all of these credit checks removed please. ThanksBusiness Response

To whom it may concern,
Shopping for an auto loan actually has little to no affect on credit score within ***** days of shopping. This was addressed by the ************************************ (CFPB), a U.S. government agency that makes sure banks, lenders, and other financial companies treat you fairly. Please see the article below to gain confidence that the practice by dealerships is actually to get you the best rate and approval, nothing to hurt your credit score.

In July of 2022 my **** Focus that had been repaired previously by the same dealership at the end of 2020 began to have the same issues so I brought it in again. The service department looked at and diagnosed the problem as the same issue and told me it would be 6 months to receive the part and repair the problem. They also told me if the car went over ******* miles the warranty repairs would no longer be covered. So I brought the car home and it has been sitting in my driveway ever since. I have talked with them back and many times in the past year with no repair date in sight. The service manager never calls me back and every time I call they give me the run around. I have bought a van from this dealership and had no issues before. I had to go buy another used car while I wait for my car to be fixed and my car has been sitting in my driveway unused since July of 2022 when they said it would be 6 months. I am looking for the repairs to be completed or a replacement vehicle but again I receive no service of any kind. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have started looking into the lemon law but I still dont understand it completely.Business Response

To whom it may concern,
Customer brought the vehicle in on 7/22/22 with a transmission concern. Part needed to repair is a *** which was extensively back ordered through **** leaving no control for Lasco Ford. Service manager ************************* has since reached out to the customer to inform them we do now have the *** part. He sent staff to pick up the vehicle and repaired it at no cost covered under warranty on 9/14/23. This concern should be fully resolved. If there are any further questions or concerns, please reach out to ************************* at ************

I had an appointment to get my truck towed there March 20th for a diagnostic. My truck just went in for that diag and they still havent started trying to fix anything or even tell me exactly whats wrong with it. They have not offered me no loaner and are acting like they are the victim because they are claiming to be short staffed. Thats just the new excuse for people to get away with this kinda of stuff. I have paid over 2k for rentals lost 2 weeks of wages and just lost my job because I can no longer afford a rental. This has ruined my life at the moment and there should be ramifications to their actions.Business Response
