On Monday, November 22, 2021, in response to an email and voice mail message I had left at the office of Byler Electric, I received a return call from Mr. Lee Salzman later that day. For unknown reasons, Mr. Salzman chose to verbally mistreat me in a very, very unprofessional manner. He suggested my request for an updated electrical quote to be absurd and a waste of his time, though my request was merely to clarify and if applicable, update a quote previously provided. I am uncertain why he chose to speak to me in the most disrespectful tone and manner. After informing Mr. Salzman that my contractor - a current licensed builder, had directed me to address the questions/clarification regarding his prior job estimate; He stated that my licensed building contractor must be a "quack", that he was seeing "red flags" regarding my project, and that he wanted to withdraw his prior bid dted 8/27/2021. The tone and manner of conversation hurled at me is my only issue. If Mr. Salzman had used a civil respectful, professional tone & words, to convey his decision to withdraw his prior bid, I would have respected his decision and moved on - no problem. The problem lies in the fact that Mr. Salzman chose to talk to me in a disrespectful, "bully" type tone. I kept my composure and my voice respectful. I thought - "How shocking", especially when this company is listed as having a positive rating on the BBB website. It is for that very reason that I thought it prudent to document Mr. Lee's degrading tone and conversation with me. I could only imagine that because my voice was that of an African American woman, that he chose to use words in verbal tones that were meant to be demeaning and insulting. I expect professionalism, especially from a company that has a positive BBB rating. Mr. Salzman's tone was exactly the opposite. I am documenting this grossly inappropriate behavior in hopes of giving notice, that this conduct was not/is not acceptable. I am thankful for the composure I maintained throughout his ranting and bullying type tone and words.
