Out of the blue Home Point Financial (Mortgage) began charging me fees upward in the amount of ****** to ****** a month it took my mortgage payment from about ***** a month to over ***** a month (My escrow was not short)I could not pay this amount nor should I. They were trying to charge me a "Mortgagor Fee" of ****** for what reason I have no idea. I investigated and this fee has nothing to do with me every. Not to mention this fee is usually charged once not every month. This was in addition to other fees that did not apply to me nor where on my contract with them. I had been paying my mortgage on time every month for over three years. Because of their excessive fees I was advised by New Vision Direct to do a mortgage modification. Key work "Modify" I paid about ****** in principal and interest to Home Point for three years and even their own paperwork states this. Then all of a sudden Jan2023 out of the blue they started the loan all over again. They gave me NO CREDIT FOR THE 3 YEARS I PAID MY MORTGAGE. WHICH AMOUNTS TO ALMOST ****** THEY JUST KEPT THE MONEY AND NOW SOLD THE MORTGAGE. I've been asking and asking. I contacted the PA State ************************ as well. They can't just do this. They can't just keep this money and start the loan all over again. WHAT CAN BE DONE????

Approx 3 years ago, I tried to refi with home point. I was approved, however, they employee incompetent employees. Loan Officers would quit or get fired s******* the refi up. 2). I tried to have pmi removed and went through the process and had my brand new house appraised, which cost ******. The appraisal came in low (on purpose) to keep me on ***. My house was valued between 240K-250K. My house has never been worth less 280K. It's valued at over 350K, I kept telling Home Point that my house was valued more than the 80% rule. The appraiser did not even choose homes near me. I even had Home Point employees convey to me that they did not understand why a brand new house would come in that low. I believe it was on purpose and Home Point scams you out of money and they have thier little sided deals going on to keep you on *** as long as possible. I have filed a complaint before and was told by home Point they would look into it but nothing materialized. I think Home Point financial is a SCAM and the company is a fraud, just like normal financial institutions. I wanting to get rid of *** since my home is valued between 350K-380K and I don't think I should have to pay another ****** fake appraiser to come out and low ball my homes values just to get a kick back. Home Point should be on the hook and retro pay me back plus interest from the first date I tried to have *** removed. This complaint does not even dive back into the refinancing fiasco that took place 3 years ago. If you look up my property and ask yourself, has this actually ever been worth the low price the appraiser stated. Sounds like the appraiser was/in in cohoots with Home Point. Either way, I'm prepared to take legal action if this is not resolved. I have kept all records of the refi s**** up, the *** s**** up....

My 85 year old mother has a mortgage with Homepoint. This was not the original lender; her mortgage was sold to Homepoint. Since that time, she has received two threatening letters saying she is behind on payments or taxes and that they will foreclose on the property. She has never been behind on her payments or taxes. In fact, they are autodeducted from her bank account and the taxes are included in the deduction. The first time it happened, which was in 2022, I called and the agent admitted that the letter was sent in error and he apologized. But today she received another one and called me in tears and in a panic. She is so confused because she can see that the payments have been deducted from her account every single month and she has never received another notice about owing anything additional. Despite all that, she received another letter today threatening her with foreclosure. I have spent hours dealing with this last year and now I have to do it again. This on top of the stress and suffering my elderly mother has now experienced twice is unacceptable, especially since she has never done anything wrong. Please investigate this company. I will also be filing a complaint with the Consumer Financial ***************** and will be calling all of my congressional representatives in both ********** and ******* (where she lives). This abuse of seniors needs to STOP.

Homepoint financial has charged me a series of incorrect late fees because they returned an electronic payment from my bank (***** Fargo) for no reason. After reading reviews about Homepoint I realize this is a systemic issue done to customers to intentionally generate illegitimate late fees. I have spent hours and weeks on the phone with Homepoint without any resolution. They are consistently rude and intentionally unhelpful and stonewalling in nature each time. They also refuse to talk with my bank to resolve the problem. They are not interested in resolving the problem because they are scamming the public systematically. Please put a stop to this!

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of why I am rejecting this response appear below:

[You must provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution. Please type details here:]  Good afternoon and Thank you for being an Advocate.  I have not received any communication with the bank via email, regular mail or phone calls.  I have been trying to get my funds back from the mortgage company since November of 2022, and to this date this matter has not been resolved.   There is nothing significant or confidential about any records.  I believe they may be stalling, as they have demonstrated this tactic before.

Loan Number: ********** I am filing a complaint against Home Point Financial Corporation for my experience during the *** removal process for my property at *************************************************************. This process began in Sept. 2022. It started with Home Point sending a local appraiser, *******************, to my home to provide them a ***. ******************* was short with me on the phone and was rude to my wife during the inspection. Her inspection was completed in Oct. 2022. I was notified in Nov. 2022 (I believe?) that the investor, ******************, would not remove the *** on my mortgage because the comps ******************* provided did not support it. Upon reviewing the report and conferring with another local realtor I found ******************* did not provide the best comps and has a history of being too low on her ***s. I then contacted Home Point in Nov. 2022 so they could issue a *** removal dispute form. I completed that form and sent it back. It was received on Nov. 28th but wasn't worked on until Jan. 19th 2023. I then did not hear anything until Feb. 10th 2023, at which time **** from customer advocacy told me the dispute was denied. Between Dec. 2022 and Feb. 2023 I made multiple phone calls to Home Point's customer service department, customer advocacy department, and was denied the ability to speak with the *** research team. Speaking with ****, I asked for a new dispute form in Feb. 2023. He said he'd handle this. He never did. I had to call customer service to get it sent out. I asked if there'd be an issue with ****** report expiring, they said no. I received the new dispute form and sent it back in Feb. 2023. The *** research team then didn't work on it until Mar. 2023 and denied my dispute in Apr. 2023 because the *** report expired in Feb. 2023.**** from customer advocacy said ****************** already had my second dispute form and was processing in Mar. 2023. **** lied to me. Customer service misled me. And the *** team refuses to speak with me. SHADY! SHADY! SHADY!

My initial mortgage was with homepoint for $3,281.52. It was recalculated and I was refunded a surplus of $2,142.74 and my mortgage went down to $2,975.41 per month. Homepoint sold my mortgage to Freedom Mortgage. 7 months later they reevaluated my account and I was $10,000 in escrow debt due to their miscalculations and errors which sent my mortgage to $4,300 per month. I've worked out a plan to pay it over 5 years but Homepoint to should take the fall for their incredible irresponsible miscalculations and errors that are causing hardship for me and my family.
