On 11/14/2023, ********************* of Five Star Appliance Service came to my house to look at my oven, which was malfunctioning because it was emitting a gas smell and was not heating up. We prepaid $404.41, which included a "service call," labor, and parts. ***** said he would return to do the repair in two days; however, he did not show up. We called his answering services every day and asked for a return call. Unfortunately, we received none until I posted on the company's ******** page requesting a call back. ***** finally called back on 11/21/2024 and said he would be out the next day. On 11/22/2023, he arrived and did the repair. He said we might still smell residual gas until it was cleared from the line. Subsequently, I used the oven three times: the first time on 11/24/2023, at which time, I noticed that the gas smell persisted and still felt the oven was not functioning properly. However, as ************** said this might occur, I was not concerned. I again used the oven on 12/10/2023. The problems persisted. The most recent time I used the oven on 11/17/2023, the smell was even more overpowering and the oven was still not heating up y. I called and left a message on 11/18/2023. A man who identified himself as ***** "the business manager" told me that it would cost me an additional $175 for a service call to have ***** come again, and I would need to pay an additional labor charge. He said it was their policy to charge for an additional service call thirty days after the original one. I said that the actual repair wasn't done until 11/22/2023, so I was still within the thirty days. I told him that I didn't think this was fair business practice, and I requested that the company would be fair with me. ***** arrived on 11/19/2023. At that time, he found that the oven was not heating correctly (it was 40 degrees off). He said he would need to order another part, but he would have ***** call the next day. We have not heard from anyone since.
