started on March 30, 2021. Gallo/****** *** ***** charged $7,533.00 to pack and move a 2 bedroom apartment about 50 miles. Sent 3 men out to pack on 30th, they used 75 boxes for what came all the way from Texas in 25 by 2 women in 7 hours. Men did not finish, came back next day. Some still packing, some starting to load. Still did not finish on 31st & less items than I originally brought from Texas in 1 truck. On bill of lading they show 4 carton/ bags for mattresses. April 1st they show up with 2nd truck, pick up a few things and leave without telling me. I call co. & ask, what's going on. They send out a warehouse man. He leaves without telling me. I was told I got worst crew, only used if had no one else. Quote guy Brian comes he tells me to get up and finish. 2 guys from church had to pack my car to brim. New apt. not ready. Has to go to storage. Broke flr lamp, took covers off furn/mattresses. Furn. skint up. They lost screws to bed frames. Sd they were thru, not put in apt.

Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2021/06/24) */ Contact Name and Title: Anthony Gallo, Owner Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXXX Contact Email: ******@gallomoving.com This was a difficult move from the beginning. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts paid for this move, Ms. ******* paid NOTHING to be moved from Franklin, MA to N. Kingstown, RI. We were contracted to pack and move her into an apartment. Her new apartment was not ready but she still needed to be moved out of her existing apartment. We went over her options with her which were to put the items into storage at our warehouse or into a self storage facility. We held her items on a truck for an extra 3 days at no charge hoping she would have her apartment situation resolved and we could deliver direct. Eventually she opted for us to put her items into self storage. That is where our obligation ended, at delivery into self storage. We told her to call us when she found an apartment and we would get her moved, which would require an extra charge as we this would basically be a second move. We did not hear from her after that. As far as using more boxes to pack than she brought up from Texas, I cannot speak to that as we did not move her from Texas. Our crew did state that she was a hoarder. To be clear, she did not pay for this move and the charges were less than the estimate and Ms. ******* has a credit due back to her. We tried reaching out to her but she has not called us back. Through the BBB we now have her address and will get the credit processed and sent to her. My crew went above and beyond to help her, but there a few things we could not do, such as take her trash with us, fill holes in the wall from pictures and take down drape brackets from the wall. Because we delivered her items into a self storage unit we removed our furniture blankets from the furniture - that must be what she is referring to about taking covers off the furniture. Since we did not do the final delivery into her apartment we had no way of re-assembling the beds and other furniture. Had she called us prior to moving out of the self storage unit we could have given her some options. Her comment about getting "worst crew" is puzzling, as all our crews are trained movers and no crew here has less than 15 years experience. All good movers that have been with Gallo for very long time. Now that we have her contact information we will reach out regarding the damaged items and get the claims process started. I am not sure what else we could have done with this move. We are a good company and our reviews with the BBB, Google and Facebook reflect that. Tony Gallo - Owner Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2021/06/26) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I do not accept the response because most of it is inaccurate. Mr. Gallo is getting bits and pieces from other people. What was difficult about it for a moving company that knows what they are doing? Funny you mention who paid for it. I was told when movers find out it is paid by RCAP, to be careful because they know RCAP will pay up to $10,000, so movers try to charge more than normal. That's why first co. sd 10,000 & I sd NO. That is a grant for me not you and there are certain other things I can use it for. That's like food stamps. Store can't charge more because person not paying with their own money nor can they give bad food.(or service) We did not find out till the middle of the 30th while packing that my apt. was not going to be ready for another week. So guys call office w/o telling me and Brian calls RCAP w/o telling me and asks for another $2,000 for storage. That was not his place. Brian sd it was that or I find my own storage and then their job was done and no refund. Kim told me no refund. Kim had sd, in email to RCAP, this was price and nothing was going to "come up" to make it different. They have email system where they can send you an email w/certain amount and you better print it because they can go back in to that same email and change something and it changes it on your email that you already received. AS to not paying a penny for my move, my apt. was not ready for a month. I've now paid $1,000 for storage and $2,000 for hotel. RCAP does not pay for storage but they would have paid for hotel if you had not taken so much. $700 for movers from storage to new apt. As for Gallo trying to get in touch with me about refund or anything, not true. I called Allied and they sd they would call Gallo and I never heard back from them. No email and no record on my phone. I called Gallo on May 7th to tell them movers from storage to apt. could not find screws to my steel bedframe. They sd should be box marked parts and that's all she could tell me. Never found so bed on floor. They told me it would be 2nd move to move from storage (4,000). Never sd anything about refund then. Why are now saying I had refund coming back? They still have not sd how much it is. As to getting my location from BBB - you had it on first bill of lading! As to holding my items on truck for 3 extra days, not true. I had to pay old apt. extra day for April 1 because you were not finish on 31st as you were supposed to be. (Because the guy with the long black hair kept bidding on shoes on the internet.) Then you put in storage on 3rd. So there was 1 day on truck while I found storage. Thanks for slandering me in writing (which is liable) calling me a hoarder. I had an aid that cleaned my apt. EVERY week. He needs to educate himself. I had a lot of items because my sister and mother had recently died so I received their items. They were in boxes. As to your crew going above and beyond, I'd like to know how. Why were my mattresses not in cartons like they were supposed to be? The Bill of Lading sd 4 cartons included. Who wants to sleep on them now? I asked one guy if he missed the pic. on the wall. He sd they could not take pics. off wall, so I took it down and handed it to him. He put in truck w/o wrapping it and left, w/o me knowing they were leaving. He is unprofessional. The other 2 guys were nice. Next day, I called company and sd they left items here they need to come get. They sent warehouse man. He could not believe what they left. I took shelf down. ABOVE AND BEYOND?????????Warehouse guy took curtains down for me and picked up few more items then he got frustrated and left w/o me knowing it. He said I got worst group they had. There were no nail holes to patch. What you could have done different was finish your job. After warehouse man left, Brian came over, he sd come on this needs to get done (like I'm supposed to be doing it). He took some items with him. I had to get 2 men from my church to come over and finish filling my car up with items Brian left. Then I had to drive them to storage and unload them myself. I'd like to make note of the fact that twice you've mentioned that I didn't pay for move. That is not your business and does not concern you. But it sure shows your mind set and what people are saying about the fact that it effects your thinking is true. You think because RCAP is giving it to me - you should be able to charge more. Also, Just FYI, I gave one of your men a lighted 4'x 7'shelving unit that cost $1000. I'm not saying your not a good company. I'm saying my job was a nightmare. ***** ******* Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2021/07/02) */ At this point we have processed her refund and asked her to fill out a claim form which we will process in a timely manner. We are not going to get into further debates over this move.
