My wife and I purchased a woodstove to have installed from hearthside at *****************************************************. The business asked if we wanted to have them pull thw permit and we opted for them to do it. They installed the woodstove showed us how to operate it. After a few months of having performance issues we called fireplace showcase in ******* **. They came down and the technician immediately knew something wasn't correct. He did a few quick measurements and wouldn't you know the stove is to close to the wood mantel above and is already after one winter turning the wood black. The code is supposed to be 27 inches feom the top of the woodstove and it is only 21 inches. Also the front of the stove is 10 inches to close to the floor. The tech asked about yhe permit which we never seen. I called the town and found out that they never even pulled a permit. I then pulled a permit myself so i could have the town inspector see how bad it was. But when he arrived all he suggested was pull another permit and have a company come and fix the issues. We paid 5k dollars for a safe and correctly operating stove. Now we have a stove that doesn't meet code and could have burnt down my home with myself my 4 daughter's and wife. I reached out to hearthside so i could speak to an owner about the situation but they are not returning any of my calls or messages. We really have no way of just paying again for it to be right. We are so confused and worried that we don't know what to do next.
