I purchased a 2011 ****** Rogue on September 5,2023 from Nicholsons. The next morning the vehicle vehicle would not start so I called to let them know that the vehicle was having problems. So I started questioning them about the price of the vehicle and all the issues it was having. After the vehicle being at their place of business I found out the vehicle had multiple issues and asked for my money or to be put in another vehicle. All I get is it has a warranty and we can fix it. So the vehicle was in their possession from 9-6 until ****. I picked the car up on the afternoon of the 11 and drive the vehicle for 4 days until the vehicle started having issues again so I email the owner to inform him of the problem and was told well ride together to see what issue is. So it now the **** and I had to bring it back because something sounds like it was about to fall off and now Im being told it multiple issues once again. At this point I just want my money back.

      Hi, ******,

I dont know what leads you to believe that you will be taking a chance of losing your money.  We have never done you wrong in any instance of doing business together.  You had a rare issue that I found today as well as a couple of other small problems.  Those problems are being handled.  Let me remind you that this car is used.  Its 13 years old with around 150k miles.  Its not going to be perfect.  Let me also remind you that you wanted to take delivery of the car the same day and gave us little time to prepare it for you.

Secondly, you have a warranty for 6 months or ***** miles that is renewable.  It includes roadside assistance.

Lastly, your friend, who wants to come off as knowing the law and thinks hes a lawyer, obviously doesnt know anything about the law.  I would tell you to quit listening to him.  Fun fact: my dads a lawyer.  I kind of know from his counsel.  I was just waiting for your friend to purport that he was a lawyer so I could call the bar association on him because he was quite rude and unknowledgeable.  He had the nerve to hang up on me after trying to put me in some place that he thought I belonged in.  He and his phone calls will no longer be entertained.

So in the end, would you please slow down and have a little faith?  I kind of thought we were friends, or at least had a good relationship.

Last month I purchased a vehicle from ********* college cars. A 2017 Kia **** They assured me that they had a mechanic go over the vehicle to make sure that it was mechanically sound before I purchased it. After purchasing the vehicle I found there to be a hole in the bottom of the engine block that was patched with *************. This vehicle is not fit for purpose.

We are currently working towards a solution with the customer.  We were just made aware of the issue less than 3 days ago.  We have not had a chance to see the problem in person, nor have we had a chance to explore any possible remedies.  Having patience in these types of situations is key to keeping a dialogue as well as making progress.  We feel that this complaint is a little premature, and we plan to assist in the near future.

On 10/08/22 I went to ********* College Cars to purchase a vehicle. After finding a 2016 Camry that I wanted the salesman ***** informed us (myself, my wife and my daughter) that the sales price was ******. When signing the final paperwork I noticed that the sales price was listed as ****** so I confronted ***** about it. He assured me that the sales price was still ****** but that the ****** price was with tax title and license. When I got home I was going over the paperwork and seen that it didn't show anywhere that the sales price was ******. Monday morning I called ***** to ask why. He told me this time that it was bank fees that didn't show on the paperwork. I contacted the bank and asked why it didn't show ***** in fees. They said all fees came after the ****** which was the sales price. I called ***** again to tell him what the bank said. He then told me that there's a disclosure on their website that says the vehicle price may be different from the online price. I didn't buy the vehicle online I was in person. I've never been on their website. I told ************ thought I was being taken advantage of and he said "all bets are off" and hung up the phone..

72 days ago assisted son in purchasing 1st car from this dealership. Right out the gate vehicle had a noted battery issue before taking receipt of vehicle a " new " battery was to be installed. Several days later the battery died stating low voltage due to a light that remains on in the dashboard. The dealer was contacted vehicle dropped off which sat a whole day waiting on the owner to come. This occurred several times appointments were made and the owner never showed up causing a transportation problem for son to go to work. Finally owner did a diagnostic changed the supposedly new battery with another battery that had cobwebs all over the battery this did not solve the problem. We are back at square 1 with the light remaining on and draining the battery. This vehicle needs to be jumped every morning for it to work properly. The owner stated it must be the rack and pinion (now I don't work on cars but, that does nothing electrical) Once again appointment was made for service vehicle dropped off and it just sat with no updates to allow other transportation to be arranged. The other employees always had a excuse and no answers. As of 1:30 p.m. 10-5-22 car was till just sitting if any work was done nobody could verify that and what as a customer I asked. Needless to say they were refusing to release the vehicle until the owner (******) who nobody knew when was coming in would release the vehicle. The vehicle was taken with a release of responsibility signed they were not doing anything anyway. This whole ordeal has been a nightmare of a experience I have brought many vehicles and never ran into so much of a hassle. This company needs a overall do over to focus on communication. My time is valuable to me if nobody else and to have so much of it wasted is pathetic. I will need to take the vehicle somewhere else to have the light draining issue diagnosed. Such a overall waste of time.

Thank you for contacting us regarding this matter.

First, this vehicle belongs to *************************; not his grandmother (*****), who wrote the complaint.  Any information that we share about his experience is somewhat privileged in nature, and I will try to address this letter with that in mind.  Additionally, we have not had nor taken issue with *****************  He has always been very pleasant to deal with.  His father, on the other hand, has easily become irate on occasion and has even assaulted one of our technicians.  His grandmother has intervened on his behalf but has also made several unreasonable requests/demands that are hard to meet.  Here are some counters and further details to this complaint.

Ms. ***** (not the vehicle owner) states that the battery was dead before taking delivery.  That means that the problem was fairly apparent before completing the purchase.
We had never noticed any lights remaining on in the vehicle at any point in time while in our possession.  They did bring the vehicle back to us for diagnostics.  One of our technicians could not find the cause of the problem.  They brought it back one additional time for diagnostics for me, the owner, to have a look at it, but they refused to leave it overnight.  They continued to refuse to drop it off and let it set for a night even thought their complaint stems from having a dead battery in the mornings.  How are we supposed to acknowledge the problem without a nights stay?  I checked as much of the vehicle as possible at our facility, that included the instrument cluster, fuse box, battery, headlamp and dimmer switches, and more.  I did find that the battery was no longer good and replaced it with a brand new battery from Interstate Batteries (we are a mechanic shop and spiders do make their way in from time to time.  We do not store the batteries in a sealed, air-tight container to prevent things like spider webs.).  I did not promise that the battery was going to solve the problem either.  Why she states this confuses me.  I did state that I wanted another techinican, *** from ******************* to have a look at it with me.  ***, Ms. ****** and I all arranged to have that happen.  After an in-depth review of *** and I (2 ASE Certified Master Automotive Technicians), we concluded that the *** must be remaining in an ON state even after the ignition is off.  We concluded, using proper flow charts, that the rack and pinion must be replaced because the current one in the car could not be programmed.  A new, unused, electric steering gear must be installed and programmed before we could go any further.  We believed that being that the *** could not recognize the steering gear, that it would not totally shut off and that the lights remaining on in the instrument cluster was a symptom of this problem.  Furthermore, we believed that if the steering gear replacement did not solve this problem, that it would inevitably need a new ***.  PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that **************** was not being charged for any of this.  Going forward, we ordered a new, over $700 steering gear and arranged a day with Ms. ***** to have it installed.  After the rack was installed, it, again, needed to be programmed.  I am the only person trained to perform the task of programming at our facility.  Unfortunately, my oldest child caught the flu around this time.  My wife, being pregnant, could not risk becoming sick, so I had to tend to our child.  That being the case, the car was going to have to set on the premises for not just one, but possibly more than one night.  This setback was more than Ms. ***** or **************** father were willing to accept.  They demanded to take the car even though the repair wasnt complete.  We asserted that we would not release the vehicle until the repair was complete.  We also said that if they refused to allow us to complete the repairs that they would have to sign an AS-IS waiver releasing us from any further obligations to them.  Not until after **************** father assaulted my technician did they finally agree to signing the AS-IS waiver in order to take the vehicle.

In all, a dead battery is a hassle.  Refusing to let someone repair a car because you refuse to let it set overnight is more of a hassle.  Writing to the BBB and omitting all of these critical details is beyond a hassle. There will be no adjustments of any kind, and I wish them the best of luck going forward.

      Sincerely,

We have received and reviewed the complaint sent by *************************.  These are our responses to his respective statements:

The vehicle was never listed for $35000.  It may have been listed at a time for a different price than his contracted price of $41,000, but it was never $35000.  I, ***************************, have also never confirmed a price of $35,000 neither has our salesperson, *****.

****************** alleges that ***** asked for a $500 money order.  We have no record of that and neither does ******************.  The down payment of $9000 that ****************** stated has been received and is directly reflected in his paperwork.

****************** says that he didn't know that the price he paid for the vehicle was $41,000.  His live signature is affixed to a **** of sale and an application for title that clearly show a price of $41,000.  His electronic signature is on his loan documents that clearly show a selling price of $41,000 and interest calculated based on several numbers including the $41,000.

****************** states that he wants a refund.  Although that isn't possible, he can try to sell it outright.  The value of his vehicle has increased since his purchase.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************, IV
