I contacted **** to replace a roof on a property off ***************** in ***********. After the roof was installed, the skylights leaked. The skylights were working prior to the install. Roof shingles can be seen shoved between the skylight and roof. The roofer came out and said they had mistakenly not sealed the skylight, and he sealed it. Two other skylights have not been sealed and continue to leak. We asked for those skylights to be sealed and for the repairs to be made. **** said he would not help and to not contact him again. As a result of the unsealed skylights, we need drywall repair and the remaining two skylights sealed.Business response

I am ********************* owner of B&h Roofing I was notified by *************************** that one of the skylights was leaking. I sent men out there. It was nothing to do with the roof. The skylight itself actually had to be resealed which we done there is previous interior damage that I asked *** CARE if he had ever done any repairs to the sheet rock he stayed no and I did not tell them that I would not come out and address any problems on the roof. I just told them I wasnt gonna be responsible for the interior for which I had never had repaired after the roof was done, the daughter is making demands and keeps changing her story every time she calls just as if theyre wanting a reimbursement of $30,000 and the whole roof job was only for $14000 The daughter actually stated that when the men come out, nobody could speak English but then she got called back saying that they admitted that they forgot to seal it so its kind of confusing every time she calls her story changed and she was harassing me so I asked her not to reach out to me no more but I did not refuse to stand behind my job and I still will if they have a problem they have a warranty I stand behind my work the Daughters getting in the middle of it and she lives in *****. The mom even stated she has no idea whats going on and she is the one thats being very pushy , but again any problems on the roof they have a warranty and I will stand behind it. Im just not responsible for damages that they never had repaired. On the interior but if I can request, I dont want to be contacted back by the daughter she has no idea whats going on. She was never involved until now.Customer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The damage to the interior of the home was cause due to the skylights not being sealed when the roof was installed. Shingles were also improperly shoved under the skylight into the home creating a gap and allowing water in. The shingles and water damage can be clearly seen by the images provided in the original complaint. None of the skylights were leaking prior to the installation of the roof. One skylight was sealed during a follow up. The roofer stated the skylight had not been sealed when the roof was installed. Two skylights continue to leak. They need to be sealed to prevent further damage. The existing damage around all three skylights, caused by the leaks, require repair. The roofer has been refused to seal the skylights and accept responsibility for the damage.Regards,

The skylights was leaking prior to roof being replaced as stated earlier we had to replace plywood around 1 it was leaking so bad . But I dont want to keep going back and forth Im willing to offer to give $700 to put towards repairs and *** ****** CARE stated there was only one skylight leaking. I keep getting different information between *** CARE, **** CARE and the daughter as I stated before I stand behind my work Im not refusing coming out. The problem is the damages that wasnt repaired but as I said, Im willing to offer $700 to put towards it and we can get this resolvedCustomer response

I mailed the customer a check for $700 to take care of the Sheetrock that they was complaining about that had to be repaired. Thanks.
