Start date was 8/8. Quoted price was $23k. Last day of work was 8/29/22. Contractor showed up next day in attempt to collect last $7k. Job was replace ceiling in living room, kitchen, washroom, and restroom, also replacing wood panel in living room/washroom with drywall. Left molding, washroom door, and drywall outside on the porch leaned against house during the rain. Upon noting molding could get water damage, the contractor said dismissed it claiming they had a special coating on the molding. Drywall hung without being anchored properly/visibly drooping without molding holding it up, walls and ceiling. I have left them multiple lists of concerns that had to be documented in order to address and fix. Contractor was rarely on the job in the afternoon to check progress, mostly just showed up in the morning to set an idea to what needed to be done. Also, just before painting when I asked for the plan for addressing the painting of the walls. Contractor said they were just going to put two coats of paint on the bare drywall. I noted how upon internet research, I learned that you should prime drywall first in order to get a long term coating of paint to stick and look good. He dismissed this and claimed it was not necessary to have a good coat of paint, only the two coats of paint were needed to have the desired look we wanted.They also put texture on the ceiling without discussing it with us, then said it would cost more to take it off if we didn't want it. They replaced moldings in the incorrect areas, photos prove that certain areas of molding were different colors in the past, when noted this was also denied by workers.They replaced functional AC vents and light fixtures without discussing it and justified it as there was rust on them. One day they didnt show up (had a flat, had to get gas) was excuse. One day had one guy, next, two guys supposed to clean whole day (sweeping, mopping, and 2nd coat).
