I called McNeer Electrical Contracting and request a quote to wire a generator transfer switch for my portable generator. They schedule me for 27 Jul 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The morning of 27 Jul, I received a message reminding me of the appointment I had that afternoon. I took 1/2 of day from work to be at the appointment; that afternoon (passed the 1:00 pm) they call me to say that they needed to move my appointment for 15 Jul, I told them I got 1/2 day from work to be at the appointment they reminded me that morning. They didn’t even apologize only said they understood but needed to reschedule. I find that completely unprofessional, if it would be me not showing up for the appointment, I’m sure they would have no problems charging me for the no show. I do not recommend hiring them specially after seeing the other complaints.

A tree limb brought down our electric line and I called McNeer Electric to make a repair, this was just after the recent storm and thousands were out of electricity. They were quick to come out and gave me a quote of $800 + to make repairs which I okeyed. I did have electricity as I have a generator. I have had this happen 3 times previously and their quote was in line with what I had paid before and it always included hooking Swepcos line back to the house. McNeers men said they would connect Swepcos line of they had enough time which of course they didn't take the time to do and said Swepco would do it. Everyone in our neighborhood got their electricity turned on yesterday but of course we didn't. I don't blame Swepco at all as they were working to get thousands of people's electricity back on. I called McNeers today and they thought I was rude because I was unhappy with my generator still running (no telling what the gas bill will be not talking about wear and tear on the generator) and let them know how I felt. They agreed to send men to reconnect the line (they never knocked or let us know they were here, shut the generator off and left without saying a word) and it took about 45 minutes to connect it and our electricity was back on. There was no excuse for not doing it when they were here the first time as the $800 + quote should definitely have included that. By the way they arrived here a little past 8:30 am their first time here, looked around, have mean quote and started work somewhere near 9 am. At just about 10 am on the dot they were on my porch saying they were finished. I will not be calling them again which will make me (and them) happy.

They charge $69 to come out to give you an estimate for the project. Then they spend 20 minutes on a sales pitch for other things (I have a new construction home) I was requesting a cost to have one or two outlets installed. When I decided to pass because I felt the price was too high, they immediately started changing the prices. Even the negotiation prices were higher than I was expecting but even if they were acceptable, they lost my trust. Basically they would have charged me $500 for a job that they ended up offering to do for $300. So how much is the job truly worth? Felt this was totally unprofessional for a business
