Bell Mechnical sent HVAC technician to home to check out our AC system. They charged us for this service but did not solve this issue with this faulty AC system. The HVAC system continues to expel emissions in our home that is causing health concerns with breathing, constant headaches, and stuffy noses. This was also communicated to DSLD in regards to the indoor air quality prior to the warranty expiring. The smell is entering our home and causing issues with our health. The AC ducts are sweating and condensation has soaked the duct system near the boot. Condensation constantly drips in the pan and it has rusted again since their visit approximately 1 month. We have spent thousands of dollars trying to fix the faulty HVAC system installed in our DSLD home which is only 3 years old. When we contacted the office in regards to the notes from our service technician visit, we were told a supervisor would be contacting us in regards to our complaint. It is going on 2 weeks now, and we have not heard from anyone at this company. It took Bell Mechanical almost a month to provide notes and/or summary of the service provided by one of their service techs.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/28) */ Good evening. I have reviewed the complaint with the service manager. We have addressed the issues related to HVAC with the recent visit of 6/23/2022. The system installed is working as designed. There are no mechanical or electrical issues. The builder, DSLD, is working with the homeowner to address her issues. As stated, the HVAC is doing its job per specifications.

I just recently moved into a brand new home built by DSLD. Bell mechanical is their contractor for A/C systems. I moved in to the house on Dec. 30th 2021. Within a couple of weeks it warmed up a bit and I had issues with my air conditioner blowing hot instead of cold. Bell sent a technician out to fix the issue. He found that a lose wire on the actual unit was not plugged in all the way, therefore not allowing the refrigerant to kick in and cool the air. In the process of him troubleshooting the issue he changed a wire on the thermostat itself, which ended up causing more issues. At the time, we both thought the problem was resolved. Keep in mind I live in south Louisiana and it temperature outside was up and down constantly. Once it warmed up again I found that the A/C was not keeping up with the temperature I set the thermostat on. I reached back out to Bell mechanical and they sent another technician out. He discovered the wire that the original technician had switched. The wire was causing my unit to blow hot and cold at the same time. Once he put the wire in the correct spot my unit has ran perfectly. The 2nd technician explained to me that he is constantly having to go behind the first technician because he constantly messes things up. I then received my electricity bill a week or so later. My bill was almost $800. I reached out to DSLD about it and they told me Bell mechanical would have to reimburse me since it was their technicians fault. When reaching out I spoke with ***** ******** She seemed super helpful and asked for proof of my electric bill. I sent her the bill statement and she said she would reach out to her manager and he would reach out to me. I have reached out 3-4 times in the past couple weeks to get an update. When I reach out to her she gives me the run around and says its out of her hands and that she will email her manager again. In an image attached you can see how much electricity my household uses after the unit was properly working.

Our AC went out at the beginning of the week. It is still in warranty we called and it is now Thursday night they keep promising a tech to come and no one shows. I have 4 kids. One which is a baby with a heart condition it's LA it's too hot to have no AC. the part is legit 20$ and they had one in stock at a place near by but a tech says "we don't use that vendor we can't use that part" which makes no sense.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/07/27) */ Good day. 7/18/2021, our service tech arrived for a no cooling call. The problem he thought was the issue proved to be wrong. On 7/19, it was discovered the issue was an indoor coil leaking Freon and had to be replaced. The tech did charge the system to help knowing it would leak out. You just have no way of knowing how long the charge will last. The coil was ordered on 7/19. The coil didn't arrive until Friday 7/23. Equipment and parts availability are a huge problems for us as well as other dealers due to the affects of COVID affecting production plants. Due to our hectic schedule this time of year and waiting on equipment, we scheduled to install the new coil 7/27. I will mention there are so many without cooling and we did move someone ahead of him to get this done 7/27. Thank you.

For over 2 weeks, Bell Mechanical in Baton Rouge has been attempting to fix my air. They indicated they fixed it once and for all yesterday morning for me to come to our home over 80 degrees yesterday evening. When calling, they informed me that the tech did that morning was a temporary fix till a part had to ordered. This was NOT communicated with me. They refuse to let me to speak to anyone higher above customer service and keep telling me they are leaving messages for the supervisor, Steve although he has been out of the office and there is no one else. The CS agent asked me what I thought he could do. I feel like they don't know what the problem is, playing the guessing game with repairs one part at a time, and are now not communicating with us accurately about the repairs. I'm over $1000 deep with this repair for over 2 weeks and still don't have AC in my home.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/06/29) */ Good day. I understand the part has been ordered. Parts and equipment, from all manufacturers, have been an issue since COVID shut plants down or reduced work force. National problem. We are doing our very best to take care of our customers, even with temporary fixes, and hoping to get her cooling by tomorrow. Thank you.

I have been having problems with my Air Handler in the Attic excessively sweating in the outside and inside of the unit. This company has sent techs out several times over the past two years to try to resolve this problem. This is a brand new unit, the house was built in 2019 and I have had this same problem since then and still today are having it. They have came and reinsulated the whole handler, ran an additional return and insulted the entire outside of the air handler. NONE of this has fixed the issue. This is a brand new unit and does not preform how it should. These HVAC techs try to tell me that it's normal for a air handler to sweat and mold to grow. Which it is NOT. I have children in the house and mold inside my unit causing respiratory issues. This problem needs to be resolved now!! This unit is faulty and needs to be replaced! I'm tired of these techs just guessing and not knowing anything at all. This is going on two years for the same problem and has yet to be resolved.

      07/01/2021

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/06/29) */ Good day. In this case and since the H/O prefers to keep their house less than 70 degrees, which is not the normal designed temp, humidity in the attic and the temperature of the air handler are the issues and we nor any HVAC company can control attic humidity. As a courtesy, we have asked the manufacturer, Lennox, to send a rep to the home to go over the problem with the Homeowner which will confirm what we have been saying. Bell Mechanical Services is not responsible for their issues and have tried several things to help the situation. Thank you. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/06/30) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) My AC unit runs at 72 during the day time and 70 at night. This is acceptable for Louisiana weather as everyone runs there unit at this. I have went to others homes who run below 70 degrees on there units and there inside and outside of the Air Handler is bone dry. This is no excuse and unacceptable. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2021/07/01) */ Good morning. A Homeowner can operate their equipment at the temp they desire but there can be consequences. Homes today are built tighter and don't breathe as easily so indoor temps can cause issues when settings are too low. The Homeowner can check with various sources for information regarding issues arising from temperature settings not conducive to how the equipment was designed to operate. Thank you.

On 06/10/21, I called Bell Mechanical due to our A/C unit not properly working. On 06/15/21 the technician came out and discovered that the system was running low Freon due to the leak in the coil and charges $155 for the service charges for the diagnostic test. But the technician was not done any leak test , removed few screws on the coil panel and just sneaked in without removing the plate on the panel and concluded coil was having the leak, requires replacement of the Coil was required, since the system was under manufacturer warranty, Technician told will work with Goodman for the part and was informed that the labor charges to replace the coil was $1300. I worked with another AC servicing company, technician came on 06/23/21 and found that the leak was due to the valve and no leak on the coil and no need to replace the coil. If I would have gone with the Bell Mechanics based on their diagnosis, would have cost additional $1300 for the part doesn't requires replacement.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/06/24) */ Good day. A senior tech was out and found signs of a Freon leak in the Goodman evap coil. We installed the system in 2016 and prior to this latest service, we had not been to his house since 11/19/2016. Thus we have no service history as to what problems the customer may have had over the years. The charges were $89 for trip charge and $66 for leak search and checking pressures. Our charges are justified and we stand by our diagnosis. Our Sr Tech is very detailed when looking for Freon leaks. The other diagnosis from the other company for the service valve can produce a false leak detector reading because it will release refrigerant when gauges are connected. Thank you.
