      I have now used Home Membership for three claims. One was a broken septic line, one was a clothes dryer, and now a water heater. I can not tell you how refreshing it is to deal with a company who is not trying to find a loophole to avoid paying your claim. They tell you right up front what is covered and what they will pay. You file your claim, get your issue fixed, and they send you a check - often the same week. It is so nice to know that there are still companies with actual integrity.

      I thought I found an outstanding home warranty company until I had to use the service. They pride themselves on "you are covered if it is in the chart." However, you file claims after the work is done. There is no review process beforehand so you as the consumer can understand how much will be covered. I went into a heat pump replacement expecting $1,200 to be covered (obviously not the price of the heat pump + installation anyways). However, they only reimbursed me for $300, because the fan was the part that stopped working. Unfortunately, there are no more fan parts available for my unit. We would have loved to keep the old one since it worked great. However, according to the fine print, even if fan parts are unavailable, it only covers you for the component that fails regardless of availability. Meaning, I would have been better off saving $600 and putting it towards a new HVAC unit instead of buying a home warranty. The fan made the unit stop working, so I assumed it would be covered under the policy for a replacement, but that's not the case. I'd only advise you to purchase this home warranty plan if your appliances are rather new, maybe within the last 10 years, and have parts readily available to cover repairs. Overall, I can't recommend this company since they try to distract you with the easy-to-read coverage chart, but their plans are still self-serving and not honest to the consumer.

      Thank you for providing this feedback about your claim. After further review of your claim by our member success team it appears your fan was damaged by a tree limb. Normally this claim would be denied as we don’t cover damage from external factors (storm debris, fires, etc.) this would typically be covered by homeowners insurance. However, we found the Home Membership team member went above and beyond by offering some reimbursement for the fan coverage which was the actual item damaged/broken which is how our coverage works. If that part is not readily available, you are welcome to apply the value of the part that is listed on the coverage chart to any upgrade of your unit. Also, HomeMembership does allow you to submit estimates or quotes to our claims department prior to service to better assist in determining what would be covered.       My wife and I recently had to replace our HVAC unit and I can’t thank HomeMembership enough for solving the issue quickly. The response time I received was top notch. The staff member I worked with was very polite and explained the timeframe on when everything would happen. I would highly recommend HomeMembership to anyone looking for a home warranty company.
