My car was stolen due to the Kia challenger in December 2022. I elected to tow my car to Action Auto Body to be repaired in January 2023. In February 2023, my insurance paid for repairs totaling $615. Unbeknownst to me, one of their employees took my payment and didn’t complete the repairs. I am now left with a damaged car with no repairs and two legal challenges to have my money returned and to charge the employee with theftInitial Complaint

The main reason I went to this shop was because of the great BBB rating. It has been a nightmare every since. In March 16 2021, I spoke to the shop manager ***** about repainting my car a different color. After looking over the vehicle, he said that it would be $7000.00 and that I would need half $3500 to get started and take two months to complete. It was $2000 more than other places and would take a month longer, but I was buying what he was saying and with the BBB rating I felt confident they would do the best job. I asked about the price and why it would take so long. He stated that the vehicle only had a couple of small spots that needed attention, but it would still have be taken apart along with the doors, hood, trunk and trim, and that I could replace any parts that come off and all my old items will be returned. While in the office drawing up and speaking about the work order, the shop owner **** was present and had a clear understanding of the agreement. Everything has been downhill since, ***** had some major surgeries and **** even had a heart attack. Only after 45 days did they start on my vehicle and that was only to do a rough sanding and with that being done, meant I could not take the car somewhere else. I was sympathetic to the situation they were going through as my car seemed to be pushed to the side with the understanding that mine would be back on track in time, only to keep seeing other vehicles being worked on but not mine. I had been polite and patient, only to see vehicles that came in after me, done and gone. By now 5, 6, and 7 months go by and my car sets for weeks only to have work done for an hour or two, and only if I complain and become irate about the situation they have put me in. It has now been over nine months with no end in sight. There is never any contact unless I make it. All I get is continuous lies, that keep going nowhere. Someone higher up than me needs to make a better informed decision.Business response

We are working on the car and the balance will be due upon completion. It's getting close to going in the paint booth.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

****** ******This is not acceptable. This is the same response I have received from **** for the over the past ten months and this was only suppose to be a two month job it has been over a year. Let me repeat that - over one year! They also have thousands of dollars of new items that are suppose to be used to replace old parts and have the old parts returned. After all the pain and suffering I have experienced due to this situation. I will only except an offer that completes the process of my vehicle within 30 days and the original price is unacceptable at this time.
