    Established in 1866 by Dr. John Ellis, Valvoline became the first trademarked motor oil brand in the U.S. It gained recognition through racing victories and as a recommended oil for the Ford Model T. Acquired by Ashland in 1950, Valvoline expanded its product range and global presence, particularly in automotive maintenance and heavy-duty engine applications.

    In the late 1980s, Valvoline started VIOC service center stores, focusing on consumer automotive preventive maintenance and quick lube services. It continued innovating with synthetic and high-mileage motor oils in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

    Valvoline became a subsidiary of Ashland in May 2016, and in September 2016, it went public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as "VVV". Ashland fully divested its ownership in Valvoline in May 2017. Today, Valvoline operates as an independent corporation, specializing in automotive retail services with a focus on quick and convenient vehicle maintenance.

      They dont deserve not even 1 star, I took my truck in to a valvoline in Apopka FL, but since FL is flat I did not notice any thing wrong with the transmission. Later on I went to TN, because of the hills I noticed the transmission was shifting strange, I took it to a Valvoline in Ooltewah, TN (12/10/2023 ish) where they informed me that the transmission was under filled by 4QT and informed me that the transmission was NOT leaking. I drove back to FL and I started to notice oil in my brand new pavers. I took it back to Valvoline in Apopka, FL (12/24/24) and they took out the drain plug and showed me (pictures) of it the plug with the case shavings. they informed me that the transmission was "low about .5 qt of Transmisson fluid the dipstick plug is now stripped. will not tighten. plug came out with inter therds on it recommend full service" the is transmission is activily leaking from the drain plug and FL nor TN want to fix it they both denied claim and corp is just saying the back up the decission of the area manager, Corp is turning a blink eye. claim # CS0850258. This has been going on for 2 months now and today they informed me I need to seak other options in order to fix my truck. So now not just my truck is broken but my brand new drive way is also messed up. No one from corp ever calls back it's me who alway has to be calling them. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO VALVOLINE

      In regards to Valvoline in Wilson NC on Raleigh Rd Parkway. I am truly appalled, this has been by far the worst customer experience/service I have ever had the displeasure of being involved in. It is ironic that they advertise car care because expecting your car to leave in the same condition as it arrived is too much of an ask for this place. Would give a zero if possible. My husband is an engineer by trade and he normally does all my own oil changes and took my car there to get a standard oil change since I was in a time crunch. Pretty simple right, I thought so too. They for some reason(incompetence?) threw away the drain plug that was 100 percent functional and had no issues with previously every time we have changed the oil for the entire history we have owned the car. They DID NOT TELL ME that they changed this plug. Was not communicated verbally or in the comments on the receipt. The threaded plug they replaced it with was the incorrect thread size and ended up damaging the threads in the oil pan once torqued causing a leak path to form. After a week of the car sitting at there shop no claim had been filed or started. I had to call and make a claim. Upper management did nothing. The customer service department did nothing. I still haven’t yet to receive a call from them. Every time there has been some communication it was initiated by me. I was told they would fix the threads in the pan. When I got there they put a pan saver rubber plug on the car as a “fix” for the damage THEY introduced to my car. So not only did they damage my car, they didn’t provide a robust solution. As the rubber puck on the pan saver will degrade and leak again. And to top it off, we can’t remove it without taking the oil pan off since there are now pan saver components in the oil pan that will fall off and be unsecured. Causing more work for me rather than if they hadn’t touched it at all. Stay far away from this place.
