Evercare Medical Solutions Inc, in La Grange KY, is a Medicare approved supplier of CPAP equipment and supplies. I went to return a CPAP headgear strap because it was defective. The initial person that I talked to agreed that it was in fact defective. She asked how she would know if it was the last one that they supplied me or one that was older and had been worn out. I explained that my insurance (Medicare) paid for the strap and asked how I would benefit from trying to steal a strap from Medicare? She said that the problem was above her pay grade and she would have to check with someone else. She went to one of the back offices and returned with a strap in a dirty plastic bag. I told her that I would not accept a strap not in the original sealed packaging. Then Evar South, who is the General Manager, came out to talk with me. He said that the strap is packaged along with other face mask parts. He said that I needed to go somewhere else to purchase a replacement mask. I do not believe that Medicare would pay for defective equipment or parts. I also do not believe that the company (ResMed) , which manufactures the CPAP parts, would not replace defective parts. I do not understand why Evercare is not willing to replace defective CPAP parts unless it may cost them money to do so. In any case, Evercare is a disreputable company not willing to stand behind the products that they deliver to Medicare recipients. Please keep in mind that this is a $ 17.95 item for which Evercare charges Medicare a higher price.
