I purchased an iPod Classic from Elite Obsolete (Order ******) on 5/8/25. I initiated a return with the company on 5/19/25. I received confirmation that the iPod was received by the company on 5/24/25 (USPS Tracking #**********************************). I used the return slip provided by the company to make this return.
I contacted the company on 5/28/25 about the status of my return and their response was "We are making our way through returns and the mail. it should be done tonight or tomorrow. thanks for understanding", which I received on 5/28/25.
On 6/3/25, after still having no response about my return status, I asked the company for an update that day or explained I would be contacting the BBB. There has been no response, so today (6/4/25) I am contacting the BBB to request the company issue my refund ($342.49, minus shipping costs) for the iPod.Business Response

I purchased an iPod from this company at the beginning of december. It finally arrived in January but never worked. The company "repaired" the device and resent it to me but it still did not work. I shipped the item back a couple weeks ago and I have not heard from them.Business Response

I received the order and noticed there was something that looked like scratches on the screen of the brand new product. Apon inspection, it turned out to be dust and debris under the front screen. A new product should not have this issue. I reached out through their online contact us feature the same day it was delivered. I have yet to receive a response. Also, when I placed the order, I had an initial question and reached out, and it took over a week to get a reply. For this issue, it has been almost three weeks with no response. attached is a copy of my message request. Customer originally placed this order on the date of Sunday January 5th 2025 at 12:23am CDT. Customer was made aware of extended handling times for all orders, 6 to 10 business days.
USPS first gained possession of the package on Saturday January 28th, 2025, well within the stated handling time.
I hope to resolve this complaint by confirming the items were delivered to the customer a day later, on January 29th, 2025. The business response is irrelevant as it is regarding shipping which was never the complaint.
Complaint filed was that they sent the incorrect item. I have received one communication back and I responded to them to send me a return label or an inexpensive part at their expense to allow me to use the part they substituted without my authorization.
No response from the company again, 6 days after I made this request and asked for their decision….Business Response

Purchased **** ******* from Elite Obsolete on 10/8/24. I received the **** and it worked fine. I was happy with purchase. At the end of December 2024 the click wheel on the **** stopped working. I contacted EOE and they provided a prepaid shipping label on 1/3/25, the date I reached out to them. I mailed the item promptly and I received notification that the package was delivered to the address they had provided on the label on 1/14/25. (I soon also received a notification that prepaid label was arranged, likely to ship the item back after any repairs, or so I thought). A week went by and I did not hear from the company so I reached out to them yesterday, 1/21/25, and I received an alarming and infuriating response. Apparently, they were unaware of where the package was and had not initiated the repair. I find it extremely unprofessional and disappointing that this amount of time has passed by and the company has no idea where the package is. They stated in their last communication to me that they have to contact **** to try to locate where the package is because they don’t know where it is. How can a week go by and they have not noticed it did not arrive until I brought it up? That’s ridiculous.Business Response

The seller claims it was shipped 1/16/25. The tracking number provided shows the label was created but the item has not actually shipped. I never received the item back.I previously provided email evidence to the Better Business Bureau that the company itself told me they had no idea where the item was, therefore, the item had not been repaired nor shipped. I have not received the item.

I am rejecting this response because: Again, when I spoke to the business they said they no idea where the item was after I had mailed it back to them for repair. They had no record that they received it, had attempted repair, or of course, had mailed it back to me repaired. If they have problems keeping track of their orders, they need better systems in place.Attached is the shipping history. They told me they would contact **** to try to locate the item when they had no idea where it was. I received no subsequent communication. Then they replied saying they had shipped it only after this BBB complaint. They also provided no communication with me.
The item has finally arrived to me. There are complaints from others here and elsewhere regarding the lack of communication. That is the main issue here.

I am rejecting this response because: EOE need to keep track of orders returned for warranty repairs but more importantly they need to do better with communication with customers. Being told they had no idea where the return is an indication that logistics needs some remediation. EOE offered a refund for the iPod that was repaired and returned in proper working order. I never requested a refund so I'm not sure what the point of issuing a return label is meant to say.

Order initially placed on December 29, 2024, with an advertised 6-10 business day handling time and selected 2-3 day ship time. A tracking label was created on the 10th business day for the order, but after the tracking wasn't updated by **** by the middle of the following week, I reached out to the seller to try and figure out what was going on. After no response, I followed up with the email and requested a cancellation and refund since the order hadn't actually been given to **** yet and we were well past the advertised delivery window. I no longer wanted the item.
Seller responds saying the order was shipped that morning (though they sent an email saying it was shipped the last Friday, so that was a lie), even though there was still no acceptance scan at that point -- another lie. They sent a return label for an item that hadn't even shipped yet -- how am I supposed to return something I don't have? After refusal to cancel and refund the order, I filed a dispute with my credit card company on January 15th to retrieve my funds and even offered to pay the package intercept fee since the seller appeared to be too cheap to do so, but I haven't heard anything from the seller since the first and only email.
Shortly after filing the dispute, the seller actually dropped the package at ****, even though I tried to cancel and refund it already because he was unable to fulfill on time. I no longer want this package, but the seller seems hell-bent on keeping $400 instead of providing an acceptable customer service experience to someone simply trying to cancel an order because of the company's weaknesses and a desire to no longer do business with them. The order had not shipped when they told me it had, they were just trying to get out of canceling the order.
Not to mention that these are A*************de parts being marked up by a double digit factor, which is dishonorable and shady in general. Cannot recommend avoiding this place enough.Business Response

I ordered a iPod HDD and they shipped me the wrong one. I put a return request and requested exchange for the right one. They said yes, I can send it back and they'll send me the right one, and I got the label, and shipped the HDD back. The order tracker still says I haven't shipped it back, but USPS says it's arrived. I've tried contacting through website and email, and they said they'd look into it the next morning, and I received no response. Order placed on Apr 22nd. Paid for USPS Priority Mall shipping. Got a notice on the 26th that a tracking number was generated for it and it was being shipped. Status hasn't changed. Requested a refund on the 5th. They haven't even bothered to respond to it. The iPod subreddit (r/iPod) is littered with people having a problem with them. I ordered a refurbished with new battery Ipod **** *** generation. They shipped me a broken ipod nano. The screen is cracked, the housing is dented all over and dirty, and the back casing is bulged out. The listing and picture they use on their website shows it's supposed look almost new(attached screenshot). I'd like to return it and get a full refund.
