Champion windows and exteriors out of Lenexa KS did a siding job on my home. The salesman tried very hard to make me pay for the entire job UP FRONT. I declined to do so. The salesman then told me that at the LEAST I would have to pay for all materials required to side my house in advance. I agreed to purchasing my materials and gave Champion a check for $6000 for material costs. After the job was completed, champion took a HUGE STACK of brand new, untouched left over material and left with it. I explained that I had paid for all that material in advance and any left over material is mine. Champion simply said, “we take it, that’s our policy” I had heated discussions with them and they wouldn’t return my material. There is NOTHING in my contract that dictates that Champion has the right to TAKE my pre paid for materials. I pointed this out to them and they told me, and this is a direct quote from **** and champion “there’s nothing in the contract that says YOU get to keep the material either” NOW they are attempting, no , harassing me to sign a “completion of job” certificate and I refuse to do so. This company has the ability to charge whatever they see fit for materials, and then STEAL the remaining PAID FOR IN ADVANCE materials to sell BACK to the distributor. And they do this and tell me “it’s their policy” Again, NOWHERE in the contract does it stipulate that they can take the remaining paid for materials. I called the manufacturer of the materials, ******** ******, and they wouldn’t tell me what champion paid for my materials without permission from champion, which I didn’t get. So I paid in advance for all the materials and champion TOOK my material under the explanation of “it’s their policy” which is nowhere on the contract. I’m not a lawyer, but that seems like THEFT. And this company does this regularly.

The manager has spoken with Ms. ***** and confirmed that there are no installation issues.  As we are very careful about not ordering to much material,  if there is any left over that does not get left with the customer.  We do consider this installation complete.  Thank you

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: CHAMPION says they “are careful not to order too much material” yet there was a great deal of material left over after they were done. I PAID FOR ALL THAT MATERIAL IN ADVANCE. That material does not belong to Champion simply because they say it does. There is NOTHING in the contract that states they can just keep whatever is left. Champion also refused to disclose the price they paid for the material versus what I PAID IN ADVANCE. Just that act in and of itself is  a bad business practice and a wonderful way for champion to overcharge for material AND THEN steal the leftover material from me to SELL BACK or use on another job. Again, this material was bought and paid for by ME. THE HOMEOWNER. And champion has decided, WITHOUT AN EXPLANATION or stipulation in the contract, that they have the right to steal materials paid for by me. Just saying “it’s our policy” doesn’t mean anything. What’s in the contract is what is binding. They need to bring back my material or compensate me for the material they stole  from me. It’s the definition of unprofessional they way champion is trying to justify THEFT by claiming “store policy”

Champion windows and siding openly admits to taking any left over material. If the BBB were to call champion today, they would happily admit it. They does this under the guise of “store policy” they INTENTIONALLY order more material than they need, they charge ME for all materials ordered and they take whatever is left. I WATCHED them load my extra material on their truck, my neighbor is witness to the leftovers taken back by champion that I paid for. I have attached an email exchange between myself and champion where they ADMIT to buying more material than is needed. They will not however divulge the amount of extra material they ordered. All I received from champion is an invoice saying what is needed according to their measurements, IT DOES NOT SHOW the “extra” materials they admit to ordering. So there is NO WAY to know the exact amount they ordered however what IS known is that I was charged, AND I PAID FOR all the materials they ordered. Again, champion will gladly admit that they kept my paid for, left over material. But they won’t divulge the AMOUNT of extra materials they ordered or the PRICE they paid versus what champion charged me. Again, they admit to taking my leftover material AND they also admit in the email that they ordered more material than was needed…. But refuse to say how much.

The Regional Operations Manager has spoken with Mr. ***** and has sent him a copy of the materials ordered and spoke about *****, the measuring system that we use. They also discussed that the deposit was not an exact cost for material, it is a deposit for the project. We have done the installation with no issues or concerns and the balance is currently due.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Three and half years ago the sunroom floor began to collapse (still under warrenty). One of the mangagers came out to look at it and said the sunroom needed to replaced. Two years ago the previous sunroom was taken down. The correct base was constructed. A year after the tear down they finely put up the new sunroom. This was done in November, December, and January (this last winter). One of the windows was measured incorrectly and needed to reordered. I was told about three or four months ago that they have the window but it has not been installed. They also need to install the gutters and the ceiling fan. Also the tile floor needs to be installed. I have talked to **** ***** and **** ********* several time in the last five months to get a date when they will complete the installations. They give me a date but no one shows up. I have four pages of notes I have taken each time I talk to someone and what they said. I also have in my notes when I have left a message and did not receive a return call. It has been about three and a half years since I have told them about the problem. (1) The missing window needs to be installed, (2) two gutters need to be installed, (3) yard light needs to installed, (4) ceiling fan needs to be installed, (5) tile installed on the floor and (6) finish the wall that connects the roof of the house with the roof of the sunroom. All of this should not take more than 3 or 4 days.

I am rejecting this response because:

A person did come out on 6/23/2022, all he did was make a list of what needs to be done, he did not do any work on the sunroom.  He said he would call me to let me know when his crew would be out.  As of today (6/25/2022) I have not heard from this person.

We had a sales person from Champion come out to our house to show us sunroom products that they carried. The person took measurements and gave us a bid. I told him that we were just curious on prices and didn’t want to make a decision that night. The sales person kept lowering the price and I still told him no. He left our house and then called back and stated he could go an additional 7,000.00 lower than the last price he stated. He told us that by law that we could cancel within 3 business days if we signed that night and the price was only good if we signed right then and there. We signed and the next day I started looking at reviews from this company and needless to say they were not good, especially when it came to service. My wife and I decided to just drive over to their office in Lenexa, Kansas on January 13th to cancel. We gave them a written notice that I personally handed to the sales manager and also sent them a certified letter. We wrote a check for the down payment for 21,000 on January 11th and it had already cleared my bank on the 12th. I looked up Missouri law and it states that they have to provide me a full refund within 10 days. This is Missouri Statutes section 407.642. I texted my sales person today and he gave me a number to call. I called and talked to a woman and she stated that they had to wait for my check to clear. This is when I informed her that I had talked to my bank on the 12th and they stated it had already cleared. She then told me that Champions headquarters would be sending them the check and then they would forward it to me once they received. I informed her of Missouri law and let her know that I was going call the BBB. I still don’t have any idea when I receive my $21,000 refund. This is totally unacceptable and I would not recommend this business to anyone.
