Two new tires were bought from K's Tires at 930 E. 27th St., Lawrence, KS on 10/12/23 & they immediately starting losing air. The new tires were put at 40 psi & owner, Jimmy, even checked the air pressure in front of me before I left, told me they were at 40 psi & showed me the tire gauge to prove it. Within a matter of hours, the tire pressure went down to 35 psi & by the next day, they were at 32 psi. I went back to K's Tires & spoke with Jimmy & calmly told him the tires were losing air, & he could see this because his mechanic checked the air pressure (& they were down to 32), but he was disrespectful to me, said the tires are fine, called me crazy and told me to get off his lot and never came back. I went to another tire shop in town (called All4Tires) & had them check to see if there was an air leak, to have this patched if there was, and they found an air leaks and they sealed them, which I paid $30 for this. This receipt is attached. These tires were paid by a social service called ************, on my behalf, (& I don't have receipt) but I took my car to K's Tires & dealt directly with Jimmy. I did not pay for these tires myself but they were paid by 100GoodWoman but when I took my car back to K's Tires and spoke with owner Jimmy, he was disrespectful (although I was not). Although he could tell the tires were losing air by how the psi went down from 40 psi to 35 psi to 32 psi (in one day), he disrespectfully and dishonestly refused to change the tires out but instead verbally insulted & abused me, telling me to get off his lot & never return. I am not crazy and the fact that I had to have the air leaks sealed by All4Tires (a tire shop in Lawrence) the day after these new tires were put on my car shows there was a problem. K's tires owner, Jimmy, is dishonest & he was very hateful & verbally abusive when I returned to say the tires are losing air & which I did so the day after the tires were purchased. I think he owes ************ a refund.

My name is Kathy ******* and I made the above complaint, as someone who received new tires from K's Tires on 10/12/23 (which tires immediately started leaking air) and owner, Jimmy, was very disrspectful to me when I returned to tell him this.
I am sorry to email you again -- but (again) I'm not asking for a refund of this for myself since it was paid by a social service.  I don't think K's Tires will give a refund but if they do, it should go to the social service who paid for these tires (************ in Lawrence KS).
If it's more appropriate this be a review and not a complaint, then please make it so.  I just feel this should be documented with BBB because K's Tires' owner, Jimmy, refused to make this right, even though his mechanic measured the air pressure on the tires (the day after they were put on my car) and could confirm significant amount of air in the tires had gone down -- and he was so disrespectful to me.
I would like to make either a complaint or review of this, whichever is appropriate.
      Thanks for your time.

Consumer verified to BBB, "I want a refund for the cost of the tires or the cost of the seals to my tires ($30, which I paid for)".

I, Kathy *******, am the person who made the complaint regarding K's Tires (complaint ********).  First, I haven't heard from K's Tires.

But, secondly, although I originally asked that the tires be refunded, I would like to change that because I didn't pay for the tires, but a charity did (called ************).  However, the tires were put on my car for me (but paid by ************), but the tires leaked air and I was unable to get this resolved at K's Tires, so I took my car to another tire shop in town called ********* to have the tires checked for air leaks.  They found air leaks and I paid $32.79 to have the air leaks sealed.

I would only like a refund for the $32.79 that I paid to have the tires sealed.  These tires were supposedly new tires and they should not have had air leaks but they did.

This is a change from my original complaint regarding K's Tires. I'm not requesting a refund for the tires now but only $32.79 for the cost that I paid to have the air leaks sealed.  I've attached a copy of the invoice from the second tire shop, which shows I paid $32.79 to have the air leaks sealed in the new tires, which tires came from K's Tires just the day before.

There are always two sides to every story. The day that we mounted the new tires Kathy came to the counter after we mounted the tires and asked how much air we put in the tires. I told her we typically put in 40 psi with the tire machines. So I went out to her car (before she left) and checked with my pocket gauge. It read 35 psi. I told her that and she then left. The next morning around 8:30 she returned and came to the rear of the shop with her car (blocking all bays) and insisted that she had been somewhere else and had the psi checked in her tires and that they were down to 32 psi. I checked the pressures again with the same tire gauge and it again read 35 psi as it had the day before. I told her that the tires are exactly where they were the day before but she only heard 40 psi which is what our tire machine probably said. I attempted to explain to her that the tire machine and our pocket gauge varies on their readings by 5-6 psi and that there was nothing to worry about. She insisted that I sold her defective tires and that I take the new tires off of her car and put her old tires back on (which were bald and down to the secondary layer of rubber). I assured her that there was no need to do that. I did find her old tires and put them in the trunk in case she still wanted to do that at another location but I didn't feel it was necessary. There just wasn't any reasoning with her that morning about PSI levels in tires. I feel that she had already made her mind up before coming back the next day to complain of a 3 psi variance (not from our gauge but from the gauge at another location or shop). After a heated discussion she left. I regret how the entire situation was handled and would respond differently if this every happens again. We should have just taken the tires off of her car and showed her that they weren't leaking. The last part of her review is just completely not true. We have never given her a quote for front end work to her car. I am not sure what she is referring to. I hope she finds good auto service elsewhere and wish her the best of luck.

      Complaint: ********

I, Kathy *******, am rejecting K's Tires response because the writer (of K's Tires) was untruthful repeatedly in their response.  (1) K's Tires states that there was 35 psi in my tires after the tires were put on.  This is incorrect.  Owner Jimmy told me there were 40 psi of air in the tires and he checked them in front of me and showed me the tire gauge to prove it.  (2)  K's Tires states I returned the next morning to say that air had gone down in the tires, when in reality, as owner Jimmy knows, I returned the same day (about 2 hours after the tires were put on) and told him that the air pressure had gone down from 40 psi to 35 psi.  K's Tires deliberately leaves this fact out.  Owner Jimmy seemed annoyed with me but told me to return when the tires were down to 30 psi.  The next morning I did return, when the tires were down to 32 psi. (3) K's Tires states that I came to the rear of the shop and blocked all bays, when in reality, as they know, no one was at the front counter to wait on me.  So, I drove to the rear, where owner Jimmy was (the person I had to speak with).  While I did block one bay, it was because there was no place else to park, but there were no car in the bay that I blocked to cause a problem.  (4) K's incorrectly says that when I returned the next morning, that the tires were at 35 psi, but they were at 32 psi.  Jimmy checked them in front of me and said they were at 35 psi (not allowing me to see the tire gauge), but interesting, right after this one of his employees came over with the thing that puts air in, with a large digital tire gauge attached to it and he checked the tires in front of myself and Jimmy and they were at 32 psi.  Jimmy saw this and so did I, and so K's Tires saying they the tires were at 35 psi the next morning is untruthful.  While different tire gauges show different readings, I used the same gauge every time I checked the tires and the air pressure went down steadily, and by the next morning, they were at 32 psi, as K's Tire employee proved when he checked them.  (5) when K's Tires wrote there was no reasoning with me, that I already made my mind up to complain about the air pressure, this is incorrect because I returned only because the tires lost air and for this reason.  Owner Jimmy at K's Tires didn't reason with me (as he claims) but he was disrespectful to me immediately and told me I'm crazy, said over and over that I didn't pay for the tires (saying this 3 or 4 times) and he told me to leave and never return.  He did not treat me like a customer at all.  These tires were paid for by a social service but they were put on my car, and I was the person who took my car to K's Tires for this service, so, as the customer, I had to return if they were defective, but I was never treated like a customer at all -- but was treated very disrespectful and verbally abusive by owner Jimmy.  I did or said nothing to deserve this but this is how I was treated.  6) Last but not least, at the end of K's response, the writer stated that they never gave me a quote for front end work before and that is 100% incorrect, as owner Jimmy knows.  About 9 months ago (last winter), there was a noise in my steering wheel and when I took my car to K's, owner Jimmy had a mechanic look at it and told me the it was the rack and pinion boot and he said it was leaking fluid, although it was not.  He gave me an estimate of $1,000 and made it seem like it was urgent.  After I left K's Tires, I went to another repair shop shop and they said this repair wasn't urgent and told me I could drive another year before making the repair.  And then days later I spoke with another mechanic about this and he said the same thing.  The noise in the steering disappeared in 3 days and I was told it was probably air in the power steering fluid.

K's Tires was untruthful throughout their response, and for this reason, I don't accept their response.  Although I stated in my complaint that I took my car to another tire shop to check for air leaks (after my bad experience at K's Tires) and the second tire shop found air leaks in both tires, they sealed it and charged me $32.79 -- K's Tires didn't respond to this at all.  I would like reimbursement for the cost of this seal.   I don't believe owner Jimmy at K's Tires has any remorse for how he treated me and he was totally untruthful in his response, as I'm sure he knows.  I've already attached a copy of the receipt for $32.79 (for sealing the air leaks in the tires bought at K's Tires).  I can attach it again, if necessary, but I think this has already been received.

      Sincerely,

      Kathy *******

Not too sure what else to say without this turning into a he said she said back and forth.  Kathy did not return two hours after us putting her tires on.  Before she left our building at all on the day we put her tires on she was questioning how much air we put in her tires (which is perfectly ok).   That is when I went out and checked it with my pocket gauge and it read 35 psi just like it did the next day when she returned insisting that her tires were leaking.  I already alluded to the fact that I wished things would have ended differently in my first response and that I wished I would have handled it differently.  Do we get it right most of the time with most people?  Yes we do.. Do we make mistakes at times?  Yes we do.  We are very human.  If Kathy feels that we owe her a refund for the money she spent getting her tires checked at another shop I would be happy to refund her the money.  Have a great day.

      Complaint: 20735231

I am rejecting this response because K's Tires has lied repeatedly in both of their responses regarding this situation, which I know the writer is aware of.  K's Tires said that I did not return two hours after the tires were put on, although I did, and when I did, I spoke with owner, Jimmy, and he measured the air pressure and it was at 35 psi, down from 40 psi. earlier in the day.  K's Tires also lied when they claim the next day when I returned that the tires were at 35 psi when they were at 32 psi.  K's Tires mechanic/tire tech even measured the air pressure in front of me and in front of owner, Jimmy, and the tire gauge showed the tires were at 32 psi and that they had lost air.  I believe K's Tires response was made by one of the owners (probably Jimmy) who lied consistently and repeatedly in his response, and for this reason, I reject their response.  And then there's the issue of the verbal disrespectful/ that owner Jimmy showed to me, with his calling me crazy and ordering me to leave ad never return.  He would not take the tires off and check for air but instead chose to verbally disrespect me.  Because of K's Tires continual dishonesty in both of their responses, I don't accept their response.  I do wonder if they're hoping I will reject their response so they don't have to pay the refund of $32.79 that I was asking for.  I am rejecting their response because K's Tires has lied repeatedly in their response, which shows a lack integrity on their part. I was not treated with respect like a customer when I was there, and their lack of honesty is continuing in their response.
