    On July 6, 2016 The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall for hoverboards from Swagway to be repaired.

    Swagway X1 Hands­Free Smartboard self­balancing scooters purchased at any time during September 2015, through March 2016, sold by Swagway, LLC ("Swagway"). The product is commonly referred to as "hoverboards." Hoverboards have two wheels at either end of a platform and are powered by lithium ion battery packs. The Swagway brand X1 has "Swagway" printed in the front and comes in gold, black, white, blue, green, red, or pink.

    Swagway X1 units subject to the recall were sold at mass merchandisers, department stores, home improvement stores and others nationwide and online at Amazon.com, Modells.com, Swagway.com, Target.com and other online retailers from September, 2015, through March, 2016, for between $400 and $500.

    Products not included in the recall are: (1) X1 Hands­Free Smartboard self­balancing scooters purchased directly online from Swagway after February 1, 2016, and (2) X1 Hands­Free Smartboard self­balancing scooters which already received a battery retrofit under warranty (if your X1 has a 6­digit number at the center bottom of the unit, it has already received the battery retrofit and is not covered by the recall). Potential Hazard: The lithium­ion battery packs in the Swagway X1 may overheat, posing a fire hazard.

    Remedy: Customers who purchased Swagway X1 at any time during September, 2015 through March, 2016, should immediately discontinue use and may elect one of the following remedies: 1. Repair. Return the unit to Swagway. Swagway will install a new UL certified battery pack in the unit and return your unit to you.

    2. Credit. Return the unit to Swagway. Upon receipt of the unit, Swagway will issue a credit to you for $200 to be used towards the
    online purchase of a new UL 2272 certified Swagtron T1 or T3. The credit will be valid through December 31, 2016.

    Swagway will cover all shipping costs, whether you choose option 1 or option 2 above. If your unit is included in this program, Swagway will provide you with instructions on how to return your unit.

    Purchased an EB7 in Feb. 2023 only to have an issue with it NOT powering up. The bike was returned (RA258270) for warranty repairs (battery extension cable soldered) and then sent back to me. Right out of the box the unit failed again to power up. Was able to speak to someone by phone who sent a prepaid shipping ***** for the bike to be returned again for another repair under warranty. On Feb. 5, 2024 received email stating that the repair facility had received my bike. Since then all attempts to make contact, by email or phone, have been unsuccessful....only receiving automated replies to my emails. This is entirely unacceptable as they now have my money and my electric bike while offering no answers to any inquires.

    We bought our son a Swagtron hoverboard for 2023 Christmas, but after charging for hours it would not work for more than 30 seconds and then it would die.We returned the unit to Swagtron in late January 2024 per directions from there ************ where we we told we would here from Swagtron with in 7-21 days about our repair or refund. It had been 3 months since it was returned and no correspondence from Swagtron despite numerous requests through there website. There customer service line constantly also rings twice then goes dead. Swagtron is a very suspicious company and pathetic at customer service. I recommend no one purchase anything from them as they are just a unethical company.
