Spoke with Smart Coat at a Home and Garden show. Rep came to my home, measured it at ***** square feet and with a straight face he offered to coat my home for $ ********* !!! My facial expression must have stunned him. because he immediately offered a 10% discount, reducing his offer by an amazing savings of ***** !! For ******, I would not have to paint my house for 25 years. Not wanting to be rude, I thanked him and said I would think about his offer .At this point he said he would like my business before he left. He offered anther ***** discount to ******, Thanks, I will consider the estimate and get back to you. He stated experience has shown that once he leaves a customer to think on an offer, the customer rarely calls back.. I believed him because that was my plan. He read my mind and wrote an Agreement for a final discounted, best offer ever at $39,000.00. With that, I said thanks, I will consider it. I am not disparaging the Seal Coat product but its Business Plan needs an infusion trust in pricing. Also, two other painting companies and another seal coating company measured my home. Not one exceeded ***** square feet in their estimates. And I am in contract to have my home seal coat painted at a cost that I considered equitable. I could buy a small car with the savings from the Seal Coat best, ever offer.

Smart Coat Painting Company LLC has been in business 19 years w an A+ rating. We do our best to please every single customer. We are sorry Tony did not like our advertised discount and did not choose our company. He is not a Smart Coat Painting Company customer. I have seen many companies try to do what we do and go out of business. We are not cheap and have the best quality products and crews that have stood the test of time. We pride ourselves in that. I wish Tony the best with whomever he decides to go with.

True, I was not a Smart Coat Painting Customer, so I cannot disparage their product.. However, I take offense with their priding themselves on their integrity of their employees when their estimates are based on the square footage of the homes. They did not address the ***** square foot discrepancy in my home's measurements, compared to 2 other competitors. Also true, THEY ARE NOT CHEAP. SIXTY ONE THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED and TWO DOLLARS is defined accurately as NOT CHEAP. Smart Coat also neglected to comment on their marketing plan that incorporates the lack of integrity in their pricing model. As a consumer, I would never trust a company with these deceptive practices. These practices are tried and true in the Timeshare industry and auto dealerships.. Offer exorbitant, unrealistic prices, exaggerate the uniqueness of your product, disparage your competitors and then pull out a last minute, one time today only price to offer us the consumer a great deal. Thus, ******, then ****** bonus 10% discount, then just for me, another 10% bonus to ******. Finally, the today only price, that disappears when I leave your house, $39,000. Consumers should be aware of what to expect when requesting a quote from this company. This is why I am not a customer.

From the initial meeting through the job being completed we were impressed with Smart Coat. Everyone was easy to deal with and communicated with us well through the entire project. Our job was completed in just a few days with little complication and the completed paint job looks amazing! They left us with touch up paint to use in the future and we've already taken advantage of it to so some additional painting in areas we didn't think about at first. The painting team checked with us before wrapping up to ensure that everything was done to our satisfaction. They even helped us open a few stuck windows on the 2nd floor after the painting was done. We did have some bad/older wood at the roofline that we were aware of and they did the best they could to paint over it and fill any gaps after scraping (we were told up-front that some of the surfaces was be a bit rough). The wood replacement would have increased the job cost exponentially and we wouldn't have been able to budget that anyway. The paint is very thick and adhesive and does a great job of filling gaps and sealing the older porous wood. We would call these guys again down the road if/when we need additional painting done!"

We went with ********* after meeting the salesman at the ************************** home show. He came to our house, seemed very thorough and according to BBB the company had an A+ rating. We were told the house would be thoroughly washed down, then a crew would come to repair any wood damage and remove and replace all the old caulk. Then the paint crew would come. He said they are all different people. Not. The wash down is just a hose off. If any bugs, dirt, cobwebs,...remain they just paint over them. They do not have anyone to repair bad wood. They just paint over it. Caulk is hard to come by now, so they would not be able to do caulking. Crew speaks Spanish. We speak English. When we realized they were not understanding our questions, we had to call the owner 90 miles from us, he in turn called the crew boss some place else then he called the crew at our house. We went with this high estimate because we are retiring this month and want our house to be in good shape and as maintenance free as possible. Having the wood and caulk done was very important to us. Wanted to talk to the salesman who made the promises, but he was out of town for a funeral. ***** was not feeling well. Salesman uses a different contract than the company and it is very vague. We thought caulk meant "new" caulk and prepare surface meant sand down and replace. It does not. This was a very, very disappointing experience. We would give the company a C minus rating. We do not recommend them at all.

We are sorry they are upset. we do our best to please everyone. Contract states extra wood replacement will have extra charge and they wanted all kinds of wood replaced, bit refused to pay for it. We replaced several hundred dollars of wood and had carpenters there twice at no charge. We never recaulk whole house and they wanted windows recaulked that we were not even working with. We did our best, but realize we can not please every customer. Our contract says extra wood will have extra charge for a reason. It also has a place to list any wood replacement. It also says we caulk as needed. We did a lot more than was on contract and it took a lot of time and money and we are sorry they are not pleased.
