I purchased a car in August of 2023 from this establishment, it was through their in house financing. I was under the impression the car went through a full inspection and they advertise this too when you call. A couple of weeks after getting the car I noticed the check engine light was on. And then it would go off by itself, in December 2023. I was driving my truck and trying to leave an establishment and couldnt put my truck in reverse. I started to panic and called Ray Skillman they told me to bring my vehicle in. My vehicle has been in their possession for a month. They started saying it was the transmission and it went out, they said it was a small fix and it would be fixed the weeks of January 1st I havent been able to get an accurate account of when Ill get my vehicle back. They made it seem like they were actively fixing my vehicle and now Im being told that my vehicle is being sent somewhere to get the transmission fixed. Everyone there is giving me the run around, Im paying for a vehicle I cant drive, they gave me a loaner car and that is messed up too. The vehicle doors open randomly and will not close, it causes a safety issues because I have a small child as well. I want a different vehicle and I feel if the full inspection was done it wouldve have shown this.

We are fixing the transmission for free; it should be finished in the next couple of days.   It is a non Chevrolet transmission so it had to be sent to the *** with the correct computer software unavailable to us.  Again we are fixing the car for Free and providing a Free loaner car.   I am not able to refund money to a customer if we are paying for the repair and loaner car cost.   Fixing the car for free and providing a free loaner car is all we are willing to do at this time.

      10/7/22 transmission rebuild, tow back 10/5/23, didn't make 12 months / ****** miles.

      Business response

      11/13/2023

We reached out to customer and offered to fix his transmission for free of cost.  The parts we used to fix the first time are covered under the 12 months/12,000 miles but not the entire transmission.   But we wanted to make it right for our customers, so we decided to fix his transmission for free.   He said he was removing complaint, that's why I didn't answer it.

This letter is to inform you that you are in default of your Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement with Ray Skillman Chevrolet, Inc. (Ray Skillman Chevrolet) entered on 04/08/2023 (the Lease). The Lease provides that you will be in default if the prospect of payment, performance, or realization of collateral is significantly impaired. This is the case because of driving vehicle while oil light is flashing out of state in which caused significate damage to the engine. Due to this we had to replace the engine. While the vehicle was being diagnosed we gave you a loaner vehicle a 2011 ***** 3 Vin *****************  this vehicle was taken out of state as you were aware was not allowed and then this vehicle was drove while a check engine light was on and had to be towed in and it has a blown motor as well as needs a severe detail. . As a result of your default of the Lease, the Dealership hereby terminates the Lease effective immediately. You are not entitled to keep or possess the vehicle past the date termination. This means the Dealership will not be returning the vehicle to you and will maintain possession as permitted upon termination.

Moreover, under the Lease you were required to keep the Vehicle in the same condition as when you received it, which you failed to do. The Lease provides that the Dealership has the right to terminate the Lease in cases where the vehicle is damaged and cannot or should not be replaced. Because you allowed the Vehicles engine to run without oil, you caused the engine to seize. This requires the engine to be replaced in order for the Vehicle to operate. This is an expense that the Dealership should not incur or absorb. For this separate and independent reason, the Dealership terminates the Lease. If you have any questions regarding this please contact **** Skillman at ************ .

The customer purchased an ASIS vehicle.   Unfortunately the vehicle needed a repair.  We have provided a free loaner car and repaired the vehicle for free.   No charge was issued to the customer.   We were a little blindsided by a complaint after not charging to fix an ASIS vehicle for free and providing a free loaner car. There is nothing else we are willing to do besides fixing the car for free and providing a free loaner car.

I recently purchased a 2023 ***** Trailblazer. I purchased this on October 28th 2022 at the **** of about 27k. I have since experienced connectivity issues with the Bluetooth and the back up camera. I have attached photos to show the rear camera is active even though the car is in drive, I suspected this might be normal for a new vehicle while upgrades are constantly being implemented via my phone, but I'm no expert and can't afford to assume. My main concern is that today the check engine light came on. This car is 46 days old. You can understand how upsetting this is considering I purchased this with 0 miles! I'm not sure if I should be driving it at this point and want to do whatever necessary to mitigate the issue. I was told "it should be ok to drive" by the sales manager. Who wants to risk a breakdown with my kids in the car? Apparently I can't be seen at the service facility until Thursday and I have obligations to get my kids to and from school prior to that. You can see my apprehension with keeping this vehicle, I want what I paid for, a new vehicle with no issues. I do not want to keep a vehicle that's already having this many issues. I don't want to have a engine service issue attached to my service history so soon after purchase for future trade in purposes. They can take it back and worry about the repair and resell if they want.

We have fixed the issues with complaint 18570909.   As soon as I was aware of the situation, we provided a loaner can and did a software update.   New cars have a lot of computers and sometimes they need an update.  I think this complaint was issued before we had time to resolve the issue.   Customer seemed happy once completed.

I went to Ray Skillman Chevrolet and purchased a vehicle in August. I noticed marks on the car and questioned if the car had been involved in any accidents? I was told no. I recently tried to sell the car to pay off the loan I have on it. Which I was informed that the car was involved in an accident and the airbags were deployed on the vehicle and the value of the vehicle is not worth what I was being charged for it. I then contacted Ray Skillman Chevrolet and informed them of what I had been notified of. I asked them to buy the car back because it was sold to me under false pretenses. I was told by one sales manager they would gladly buy the car back and they would have the salesman call me back to finalize everything with me. I waited for an hour no one ever called me back I then called them again and spoke with the salesman who told me he would talk to his manager and see what could be done. I then had to call back again because no one ever returned my call again. Then I was told that they would take the car back only if I bought another car from them. I put $4,000.00 down on the car and now Im out my money and stuck with a car loan that is twice what the car is worth. This is wrong they need to take this car back and get me out of this deal. If I would have been told the truth to begin with I never would have purchased the car but they sold me the car under false pretenses. I want out of this deal is there anything I can do or you can do to help me?Thank you, *************************

      Good Afternoon,

I have discussed this with our General manager. Attached is a Vehicle History Report disclaimer that **************** signed when purchasing his vehicle.  As **************** was already made aware from our General Manager and desk manager. We are more than happy to have the car brought in and give him book value for the vehicle. It is my understanding we have told **************** that we would take a look at the vehicle to purchase from him (at book value) or trading his vehicle on something else we have.

**************** is more than welcome to reach out to myself, *********************** or any of our sales managers or General manager.

      Thank you,

      Matt

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Accepting this offer does not resolve my issue. They only want to give me book value for the car, leaving me with the remaining balance of a loan for this car. I was lied to upon purchasing this vehicle by being told by two different people that the car was never wrecked and it was. By the vehicle being wrecked it lowers the value of the vehicle, leaving me with a loan for the vehicle that I do not want. I never would have purchased the vehicle if I would have been told that the vehicle was wrecked and definitely would not have put a $4,000.00 dollar down payment on the vehicle. I want them to take this vehicle back and get me out of this loan that they falsely got me into. Its not like Im asking for them to return my down payment, I just want them to take the vehicle back and get me out of the loan. The vehicle isnt worth the price they charged me for it and especially isnt worth the price Im being charged for the loan on it. I just want out of this horrible deal and mess they got me in to.
[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

      Regards,

I apologize for the frustration. As we previously stated, the attached vehicle History Report Disclaimer signed by **************** states he was aware of the Vehicles history.  We are more than happy to help **************** trade in his vehicle towards another vehicle on any of our locations or offer him fair market value.

      Thank you,
