Wellpoint is a scam and potentially a patient killer. I got "slammed" over to them and can't get free. I'm in need of a new pacemaker, have progressive lung disease and have had cancer twice. Thanks to wellpoint, I've lost the team of doctors that took years to build. Wellpoint isn't even BBB accredited, but they feel they can manage my healthcare?!!! And on top of that, have one of their phone reps with the ** of a worm and hateful disposition refuse to work with me so I can get REAL HEALTHCARE. Why does our government allow these fly by Night corporations to victimize us?

***** and ************** had Anthem for one year in 2023. Our primary doctor told us they would no longer be accepting Anthem Blue Cross health insurance in 2024. ** called Covered ********** to cancel the Anthem Blue Cross insurance in December 31st, 2023 and switch to a new provider starting Jan 1st, 2024.. ** went through the whole process with a sales person names *********************. ** were assured the Anthem Blue Cross was canceled and we would have the new insurance. ** waited for our new insurance cards from the new provider which never came. ** were also told if we received anything from Anthem to just disregard as the new insurance would replace it. When we called Covered ********** to find out about the new insurance they told us that we were no longer enrolled with them at all. ** then had to go directly to a new provider to get insurance as Covered ********** had dropped the ball. ** still received letters from Anthem and came to find out that the sales man at Covered ********** re-signed ** up without our permission to Anthem again. This was not authorized and not wanted as our doctor does not accept Anthem. ** now have a bill from Anthem Blue Cross for over $5000 for unpaid premiums from Jan. till now. ** tried to reach out to Covered ********** but they informed ** that Anthem denied our claim for retroactively cancelling our insurance back to Jan. ** then contacted Anthem Blue Cross directly to resolve the issue and was told by ************** (supervisor) that a resolution would be assured within 24 hours. ** even emailed him and sent a copy of our original cancellation of Anthem insurance dated 12/31/23. ** still have not heard back. Very frustrating. It all feels like a big scam to get our money.

I am on ***** star plus ******** and have been since 2012 being disabled and on ssi. The state ******** program says I am covered but for some reason wellpoint which used to be called united healthcare but has changed their name; they say I haven't had coverage since last year! I've been using it all this time and I called to have a dr referral and they said I no longer have it. They won't try to fix it at all and I am currently talking to the state to find another provider.

Every year they Deny My Repatha. There internal system doesn't keep track of what medications you take. I go threw a circus to get Dexalant and Repatha approved every year. Doesnt matter that I can end up in the hospital without the Dexilant. This year they didnt fight the dexalant but are Fighting the Repatha tooth and Nail. My ********** and myself have been working to get that approved since January. Im weekly getting on the phone messaging the ********** Talking to the insurance **mpany to help them **nnect the required Dots. My plan is a high ** pay plan so its not like they are **vering the majority of these medications. Last year they had a billing issue I had to work with my ********** to get all of the insurance claims **vered for the first 2 months of the year because they were denying them. I almost wonder if it would be easier just to pay out of pocket. Since Anthem fights paying so much. Worst health insurance **mpany Ive had to deal with. I guess you have to understand its not within there best interest to **ver anything but ****. Most of there reps on the phone on in the online chat cant help you with much. But I think thats be design.

**************** is horrible!! My wife and I were on a vision and dental plan with them last year. I went on ******** mid-year and Anthem was appropriately noticed to stop my coverage but to continue coverage for my wife. They continued to charge premiums for 2 people for the remainder of the year despite this notice and at least 3 follow-up correspondences. After the last notice they finally removed my coverage but also removed my wife as a subscriber. Finally got the coverage part straightened out with the help of my local insurance agent but Anthem has not provided a refund or credit for last year's overpayment, nor has contacted me on the status of this (despite their assurance that I would be). Dealing with off-shore customer service people who do not speak English well and the countless phone tree selections is more than frustrating. If I could rate them below one star I would.

According to the information we have on file, we show that your policy was retro cancelled back to 7/1/23 on 1/14/24. Your spouse was enrolled on 1/14/24 but retro effective 7/1/23 per your request. We show both refunds were issued to you on January 14, 2024, for any overpayment.

HORRIBLE. They refused coverage for screening tests even though I have a history of cancer. My husband is now actively looking to switch jobs so we can get REAL health insurance. This is scam insurance. If you have any choice at all, don't walk away from Anthem, RUN!

Anthem routinely has over ruled my doctor, my wifes doctor and our pediatrician on various cases requiring prior authorization which takes days for them to then deny or several hours on the phone. Each time there was a paper trail explaining the need for the medicine or treatment. My son had an auto immune disorder requiring immediate treatment. Insurance denied the treatment and made us fight in spite of the life or death circumstances where a simple bump or bruise could lead to him bleeding to death internally. My children have severe eczema. We have progressed to stronger and stronger meds that anthem began fighting against and requiring prior authorization. Most recently anthem denied me an ADHD treatment under stating that there was no necessity and advised (after I called) that I take a different dosage of a controlled substance and just split the pill and take it throughout the day. It has been over a week and I just received the written denial. Anthem plays doctor and uses prior authorization to control costs while increasing the time doctors lose to useless paper work. The fact that over and over prior authorization ends up resulting in treatment after the prior authorization or the appeal, shows how truly wasteful the process is.

I wish I can review 0 star and they should be financially punished for their practice. It is almost a mob rubbing pretend they are legal I mean they are NOT! My husband I decided not to go to see any doctor because we started to charge in full for metabolic blood test for lab work without insurance coverage because of their trick. It is Ridiculous. My employer pays for our premium. But so what? Anthem do nothing. How is it our benefits? Its a scam.
