On Oct 8 I needed an ambulance to go to **************** in *********, ** (Tipton County). Priority Ambulance DBA Baptist Ambulance responded (and is the ONLY ambulance service provider for the county). *** trip was 9 miles. My bill is $6,117.56. ********** Blue Shield paid $577.06. That leaves me with a bill of $5,540.50.This is the only ambulance provider in the county. *** Tipton County Resolution that selected this service provider states that "fees shall be reasonable" and again states "reasonable" and "competitive." *** insurance provider said the expected in network fee is around $800. What is considered reasonable and competitive? Is over $6,000 for a 9 mile trip reasonable? *** insurance provider said they can't do anything because the provider is out of network. (*** hospital system is in network. *** ambulance uses the Baptist name and logo, which is deceiving as it leads you to believe that they are an official part of the ******************* System, but they are not.)

On 8/23/22 I was transported one-way via Priority Ambulance from Yavapai ************************East to Dignity **************************************** in ********, **. I was not given a quote from Priority Ambulance as to the amount charged for this service. I later received a bill from Priority Ambulance in the amount of $2323.15. I called my insurance, Aetna to ensure they received payment. I learned that Priority Ambulance has a contract with Aetna and they paid thee allowed amount of $1914.67. I called Priority Ambulance informing Priority Ambulance that this was paid by my insurance-they claimed to NOT have a contract with my insurance-despite my insurance stating they do and they are attempting to collect on a debt that was already paid for by my insurance. I asked them to resolve this with the insurance company and they stated it was not their policy to communicate with insurance companies. It is illegal to pass on the remainder of a contracted rate to a consumer. This should be a write-off for Priority Ambulance. I received the collection notice on 6/20/23.

I was rushed to the ** by my father in November of 2019 with a spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and was triaged as soon as I entered. I spent about 2 nights at honor health hospital before employees of Maricopa Ambulance LLC. (Priority ambulance is the parent company) entered my room (without any prior knowledge on my part) and unlocked my bed wheels, wheeled me to the elevator, down 5 floors, and out of the hospital and into their ambulance. I was then transported to another hospital. The reason for this was "because my insurance was out of network with the hospital" I originally went to.I was never asked if I consented to this transfer, I was never told that I would owe any money for this transfer, and finally, even if I wanted to stop them, I was physically unable to even stand. Despite my protests and telling them I won't be paying this as they brought me to their ambulance they still charged me $1264 for moving me maybe 5 miles on grounds my insurance was out of network.Since then, they have sold my debt to 2 different debt companies, the first one that appeared on my credit report was successfully disputed and removed on grounds that I am not responsible for this debt. That company then sold my debt to another debt company who reported it to the bureaus again, but now the bureaus are refusing to remove them despite removing the first time.I have requested Maricopa Ambulance to provide the bureaus and the debt collections company the written statement of my agreement to the transfer via ambulance and my agreement on the charges with my signature on it, or otherwise I will be sueing for damages and harassment. I will never be paying this debt as I am not responsible for it.I am requesting you to pressure them for this information as well please. And finally if you check the reviews of this company you will see many others posting similar experiences as mine showing this company is in fact predatory.

On appx Nov 26, 2019, Dr.Mosharrafa /PHX requested ambulance service for me while under his care. I provided my insurance info at that time (United Healthcare/WelMed). Many months later into 2020, I started receiving bills from Maricopa Ambulance for appx $1,000. I contacted my insurance to ask why bill had not been paid. My insurance informed me that Maricopa Ambulance had made an error in their billing code and it needed correction so they could pay. I spoke with several representatives of Maricopa Ambulance MANY times, asking repeatedly to rectify their error so the claim could be paid. I clearly stated to them that in any case, I would pay the bill. My insurance and Maricopa Ambulance could never coordinate to get this bill paid. Finally, I had to make a three way call with both to PLEAD with them to get this matter resolved last year. However, today 10/13/21 they unceremoniously sent me to collections, ruining my credit rating. No opportunity to correct/resolve THEIR mistake.

The complaint doesn’t provide any details of the patient or service for me to review this.  I would need a patient name, date of service, account number to be able to look into this.  Can you please provide further information please.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 16023152, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

*Has the company addressed the issue of the dispute? No, because they stated they have no idea who I am or how to locate my account details. Per BBB policy as stated on here: "Do not
include any information that personally identifies you in your response." So how am I supposed to provide my details? I did provide my contact information, including my address and telephone number in my original complaint, so Maricopa Ambulance has access to my information. Further, I am sure the BBB could provide them with my details and a copy of my complaint. Maricopa Ambulance should do their due diligence to follow up.

      *If not, why? See above

*Has the company met the agreement they outlined in their response? Not Applicable

      Regards,

      Gabriela Rodriguez
