They did complete tear off & repair of a roof at *************. A few months ago, a storm came through & my tenant mentioned that he saw shingles in the yard. I called Kusiak out to repair some soffit and look to see if any shingles were missing. I wasn't there when they came out & I was told by my tenant that they removed a small tree branch from *********** would come back to replace a couples shingles since they didn't have the same color needed with them. Never repaired. I called them back, they said that they were going to charge me for pushing a limb off the roof so they could inspect it. There wasn't any mention of a fee before or during the initial callout. I told them that I wasn't paying the fee. I never received a **** to my residence, although they say they have one in the file. I never got a ****. About Aug 26th, I called & reported leaky roof, they voided my warranty or I could pay $125. I said OK. She didn't call me back. I called Aug 27th&Aug 30. No call backBusiness response

Hi *******:
We received correspondence from you regarding ***************************.
According to our records we replaced her roof in 2018 and ****************** was completely satisfied with services.
In November 2020 we were contacted with a request to investigate a leak and missing shingles. No mention was made of a large branch on the roof.
Our maintenance crew visited the property and found a tree branch large enough that they had to cut the branch to facilitate removal in order to inspect the roof. At that time they repaired fascia and caulked a roof penetration (stack pipe). They noted that the roof shingles were Atlantic blue and the tree fall had punctured the roof. We retained photos of the tree branch that had damaged the roof and the puncture from that branch. We did offer to facilitate repairs at our normal repair rates. ****************** refused to pay our nominal ($125.00) service call, initial fascia repair, pipe seal and branch removal invoice.
****************** argument is that she was not going to pay for any repairs because she felt the work should fall under warranty services.
I think we can all agree that tree fall damage to a roof, regardless of age falls outside the terms of any warranty.
Any failure to pay outstanding invoices voids our company warranty.
Wed be happy to help ****************** facilitate her repairs with a deposit toward services.
Our photos are available at your request.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,
*************************

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and would like them to reinstate my warranty as initially stated after paying the $125 fee. Although it was mentioned, I never received an invoice through the mail or by email. I never saw those pictures either. That puncture is over the bedrooms and is not presenting a problem. We are having a problem in the kitchen area and that's not near the before mentioned area. None the less, I need the repairs, how much are you talking?Thank you.Business response

****************** should call our office to schedule a maintenance crew visit understanding the following:
Our crew will visit the property to inspect the roof area over the kitchen to determine if there is a warranty related cause of water infiltration in that area. If a workmanship issue is found, it will be corrected. Additionally, our crew will inspect the entire roof for nail pops and loose shingles. This portion of our work will be completed as a courtesy to ******************. If our crew finds wind, weather or storm damage in the kitchen area we will stop work until such time that ****************** signs for contracted services and provides a deposit for same.
The puncture area must be repaired at our regular repair rates as normal roof maintenance following storm, weather , wind and standard upkeep is customary to maintain the roof labor warranty.
Repairs must be paid in full within 10 days of completion to reinstate any remaining warranty period.
AND AT THIS TIME, HER SHINGLE COLOR (Atlantic Blue) IS UNAVAILABLE AT OUR SUPPLIERS. Due to covid, the shingle manufacturers are limiting the colors they are producing. So any and all repairs will require installation of a different color shingle of the same quality that is on her roof now. This supply issue is beyond our control.
Further, ****************** should be aware that her labor warranty covers defects in workmanship including things such as loose shingles (not caused by weather or wind), nail pops, improperly installed flashing or boots.
Things not covered by our labor warranty include but are not limited to normal wear and tear to the roofing system including caulk, weather, wind, storm, homeowner, pest or animal damage, branch, tree and debris fall, flying projectile damage and any damage that results from homeowner failure to inspect and repair roof as needed.
Your roofing system is much like your auto engine. It requires regular maintenance and occasional repairs to maintain its integrity. Regular inspections can be provided for a nominal fee that will help extend the life of a quality installed roofing system and prevent failure of same.
Sincerely,
*************************
