FRAUD, LIAR, DECEPTIVE!!! Rick Mcginnis/ARK Renovations LLC is an individual and company to stay away from. ARK does not have skilled workers, maybe laborers at best. The work they completed was substandard, poor quality, and visually unappealing. It was apparent that the unskilled laborers Rick employed were unable to complete the renovations correctly and in a timely manner. Rick continued to lie and make excuses for their lack of skills and his lack of supervision and management skills were quickly apparent. He was rarely at the jobsite and his site supervisor possessed no organizational skills and the renovations were completed haphazardly. The metal/soffit work on the house was put up more than once with numerous dents from using roofing hammers on finish nails, uneven cuts and very poor installation. A back room was renovated so poorly (crooked windows, rotten door) that it leaks from the ceiling, under the doors and through the walls. A deck was built more by sight (best guess) then actual measurements and the supports are out of alignment, uneven deck boards, and numerous stripped screws. A front porch was remodeled as well with very poor stonework that I already paid another company to fix. I had old siding taken off the garage and Rick's laborers incorrectly installed the decorative wood and Rick lied to his attorney (I have a lawsuit against ARK) that I damaged the wood.
Rick's (ARK) website is deceptive and falsely claims his company is skilled and a preferred renovations company. He has closed his shop and office in New Albany, but his website is still up. He is being sued by me, other victims, and numerous building suppliers. There are complaints with the Indiana Attorney General's Office, police reports, as well as the before mentioned lawsuits. There is an active Facebook page where Rick/ARK victims can expose him for taking money from clients and refusing to start or finish renovations (which of course are poor). DON'T HIRE!!!

We hired ARK Renovations LLC to do a job of totally renovating our house, stripping it down to the framework. Contractor assured us on day one the house would be done in three months, and at four and a half months, the day he came to collect another installment, he told us we would be able to move back in the house in another three weeks. We reviewed the contract and that installment was requested much earlier than was due. It’s been six months, and they have only done half the work and have gone six weeks at a time, more than once, with no one showing up at all. We were told by the workers mudding the drywall, they would be finished with mudding in one more day and then it would be ready to paint the walls, but they haven’t come back to finish it. The contractor avoids all communication with us. He texted back a couple times in the early phase of the project saying, “Sorry, I have no signal” or “My phone is not working and I have to replace it.” Another time he claimed work was behind because of a death, that took his finisher out of the country for an extended period of time and there was no backup to cover for him on such an occasion, he admitted, but someone else on Nextdoor claimed the same excuse was used with them, too, a year earlier. Since we paid the most recent installment, he’s been totally evasive, won’t text us, won’t answer his phone, and won’t return any of the many phone calls to communicate. This contractor has taken our money, which he wanted up front in installments, instead of after completion of the work, and has still not completed the work. We attempted to go talk with contractor face-to-face at State Street address listed on their website, the location was vacant. We have been in shear disbelief at the nightmare this has caused us, which is not over yet. We would not wish this on anyone. Whatever ARK is using the money we have paid to the company for, so far over $90,000, it is not being used to finish renovating our house.

We cannot recommend Ark Renovations LLC on State ST. in New Albany, IN for any job. In Feb. 2022 we hired Ark Renovations LLC/ Rick McGinnis Jr. to finish app. 615 sq. ft of unfinished basement space. They began work on March 21, 2022. As of June 7th, they had only been on the job site 15 days out of nearly 60 weekdays. Rick McGinnis Jr had verbally told us it would take between 35-45 days. Some of the days they were only on the job site for a couple of hours, some days not showing up until 11:00 and later. We asked on many occasions to be informed when they would or would not be on the job. That seldom happened so we wasted a lot of our personal time waiting on them. Rick McGinnis Jr.went days/weeks at a time and did not communicate with us. We had our attorney send ARK a Demand letter mid-August to get them back to work. ARK gave the attorney a conditional completion date of August 30, 2022. By October 31, 2022, they still were not finished. We finally fired Ark Renovations on Nov. 1, 2022, due to substandard work and not giving any real effort to finishing the job. We have many pictures of the substandard work they performed. They had people painting without lighting, Some of the area has no windows so they were painting by the light on their cell phones. The paint job was so horrible in some areas that we had them change the trim paint color to try and camouflage the bad paint job. The walls probably have 6 coats of paint because they had to repair bad drywall work so many times and then repaint. ARK will post finished jobs as “Beautiful Custom”, charge “Beautiful Custom” prices, but will use of some the cheapest contractor grade materials they can find unless you go purchase them yourself. We have many pictures to support this claim. We have spent many hours doing repair and touch up to their “Beautiful Custom” work. We would leave a lower rating if there was one available.

We hired out the addition/ renovation because we didn't want to do the work ourselves. All the reviews we saw before hiring this company were good. How we were mistaken. The owner is either a fraud or incompetent... possibly both.
    Overall:
Wrong materials used in several locations
Deadlines never met- Original deadline was 8-12 weeks, Fired them @ 10 months after they had not been to house to work in over 3 weeks
Multiple “family emergencies” and “deaths” in the family requiring all work to stop for days, if not weeks
Used our tools without permission, often leaving them broken/ unusable. They also stole some tools from us.
Open alcohol bottles/ cans left in home and on dumpster
Workers would sit in van in driveway for multiple hours, or sit in house playing on phones for multiple hours. They would show up not knowing what the day's job entailed and ask us
    Inside:
    Doors hung upside down
    Casings for doors done incorrectly.
Tiles aren’t level/ flush with cracking grout
Water damage- Installed incorrect showerhead, and on wrong wall (his excuse was "he forgot")
Horrible paint job- paint splattered on floor/ adjacent walls
Dents in walls, screws backing out of drywall
    Drywall joints cracking
    Outside:
    Foundation measured wrong
    They refused to fix.
HVAC- ARK did not install mini split, said it was on backorder (for 6 months). Hired outside company to install
Flashing around windows not attached- led to water damage
No backfilling- they left a 1.5-2 foot trench around the foundation causing flooding in basement and loss of personal property
Holes left in siding and siding coming loose in several places. Refused to fix/ reinstall siding
    Deck boards loose/ lifting
There's more than this, but I ran out of room. If I had known how much I would have to fix, I never would have hired this company. I'm going to have to completely redo a lot of the "work" that they did.
