    On November 28, 2022, BBB requested that Residential Warranty Services respond to the alleged pattern. On January 18, 2022 the company responded to BBB and outlined steps they plan to implement to eliminate the alleged pattern of complaint. BBB will continue to monitor the alleged pattern.

    In April of 2022, the ownership of Residential Warranty Services changed. The new owners, operating under the name “RWS of America, LLC,” have informed BBB that their Parent Company, Porch.com, purchased both the assets and liabilities of Residential Warranty Services. Therefore, RWS of America, LLC has advised that they will remain responsible for responding to complaints on contracts prior to the acquisition.

      I called and left a message for **** on Friday, December 1st regarding my claim and have not heard back yet. To outline again the situation, though you have all of this in your file already. No one in your company walked me through your warranty, it was a required signature prior to my home inspection in November 21 I opened a claim in June 22 for a failed HVAC system (Heat and AC).I reached out by email 5 times, called several times beyond that, asking, if not begging for someone to walk me through what was covered and best steps forward so I can get air moving in a 90+ degree home.Was hung up on twice over the phone and was left a number to call for a marketing scam (compromised the debit card in the process).Only responses by email were form messages that helped nobody.When I finally got a hold of someone who would listen and walk me through things at the end of July early August 22. He outlined that I had the option to replace or repair the system and that I would be covered either way. Asking clarifying questions to make sure I understood what he was saying and what I was entitled to, I moved forward with a replacement.All told, this has been a $20,000 expense for me after tax penalties. I am single father of two and that is a big deal, years of savings (personal and retirement) gone. Their individual over the phone (they have recordings for training purposes), assured me the full coverage. As a representative of their company, that is a verbal contract, particularly given that no one else would communicate with me. I am not at fault here and am being punished severely for a mistake that is not mine. It took until July 2023 and what felt like a dozen calls to their sales team(only one to pick up)to move, I have received 2 uncashed checks totaling roughly $2,200. That does not even cover the tax burden, I faced, let alone a fraction of my cost. The full value of the contract was $10,000 and that is what I was told and I expect to receive.
