We bought a new refrigerator that needed a new water line put in so the ice maker would work. The refrigerator was coming in the 2 weeks when we first called them. Callahan plumbing canceled the day before they were supposed to come for a more important problem. No problem as I understood. A week later they come to put in a new water line and show up 20 minutes late. They give me a quote on how much it's supposed to be and a range saying it's between $200 and $400 because of how much work they think it's going to be. I didn't understand at the time so I said ok and thought they would explain it in the receipt for what I am being charged. They finish the job in less than 40 minutes handing me a receipt that says $500 with no explanation of what I'm being charged for. My partner gets home later that day and is outraged for what happened. He calls back to have them explain the outrageous price they they charged us. They immediately get defensive by saying that they have been in business for over 35 years and that's what they think they should have charged us for the amount of work they put in after lying and saying that was over two hours of labor. Callahan than goes on by saying that my partner already gave them a check and that there was nothing he can do about it even if they overcharged us. And hung the phone up on him. All together for putting in a new water line for a fridge should have only cost us between $75-$200 for a pro to install. The plumber was finished in less than an hour and the parts cost less than $40. They didn't try to defend the price or explain to us what we were being charged for. They said it's too bad and we should have said no to their services. Being charged for a job that should have been half the cost is completely unreasonable and they shouldn't be taking advantage of others who might not know what the situation is.
