I got brand new Subaru 2024 crosstrek sport here November 2023.It has 1900 miles, and the bottom is all eroded. I got in yesterday, talked/argued with 5 people, got pushed back and forth between service and sales. 2 guys in the process commented yeah it is REALLY rusted. The employees/upper management I talked to gave me contradictive answers too: 1 person tried to convince me it is normal to be SO eroded after 4 months of use, we cannot fix this for you. 1 person said he had never seen any car getting eroded that early(which by the way proves my car has defected part) but still says we cannot fix this for you. This is so frustrating. I was treated rudely and got yelled at, they are not on the customs side. Its a 4 months old car, parks in my indoor garage and erodes like this. They try to convince me its normal. Im going to call Subaru to get the issue resolved. I will not buy a car here again nor recommend this place to anyone.Review from Terry & Germaine N

I was in the service department of McGrath Evanston Subaru on January 1, ****, requesting air in my tire, they told me I had a nail in my tire and that it would cost $50.00 to patch the tire, after about 30 minutes the same service guy came out and stated I had needed to replace all 4 tire valves due to air escaping, and that the cost would be an additional $200.00. This did not sit well with me; I had a doctor's *********** scheduled for later that morning and could not wait for the service. After leaving my doctor's *********** I took my car to a different location and was told I did not have a nail in my tire and that I did not need to replace any of my air valves. I paid $35.00 for the service. My tires are fine, and I have had no trouble with air escaping any of my tires to date. McGrath Subaru tried to cheat and scam, me out of $250.00. I am so disappointed in you and your scamming tactics. As a result of your dishonest action, I will never trust my car to you again. McGrath have sent this shop to the dogs. ***** and *******************************Review from Ann T

This is a dishonest business. I brought my car in for the recommended ****** mile service. After some expensive routine maintenance, I was also provided a list of recommended service including replacing the control arm bushings @$1200. Realignment would then be needed: additional $159.99. Not knowing what a control arm bushing is, I called a local garage. They checked my car. Control arm bushings were fine. I was told that I was one of several Subaru owners that had been scammed by this dealer with this spurious repair.I will never ever do business with this dealer again and will do what I can to warn other unsuspecting Subaru owners about McGrath Subaru.Review from Dariya T

I dont think people take the time to leave positive reviews here. Ive been servicing my car with McGrath Subaru for years. My service advisor *********************** and his team are wonderful. Theyre always honest, helpful, professional, and respectful. Never recommended anything I didnt actually need like some places do. Have saved me a lot of money over the years and kept my 2009 Outback running like a dream. Ive never had better service and would recommend them to anyone.Review from Adriana V

Horrible experience! This dealership makes you feel uncomfortable the whole way through the purchase. This was my experience. I would never recommend someone to this location. They stereotype and try to deceive you. I took my non English speaking mother to purchase a vehicle at this Subaru location. We went in with a loan from the bank before going into dealership. Right away the vendor assumed we had a itin number instead of social because we were latino. In the end we worked out a deal for a vehicle after the sales man starts selling us a type of warranty that he claims is valid for 10 years if purchased. After I demand this in writing he hesitates and claims he made a mistake and that its actually just for 2 years. He apologizes with the excuse that he used to work at ******* so he got mixed up with the warranty time. I did tell him I did not believe him but will accept the mistake he claims he did and so he stops discussing the warranty. We placed a $1000.00 deposit to hold the car they claimed would be ready the 18th. 18 days later I called and they claimed its delayed for 1 more week. The 23rd we come back just to pay the remainder of the money and the sales guys gives us some documents that he says is for them not to sell our information. I read it and its a credit application which we dont need because we were not applying for anything. He says its because of 9/11 and its mandatory to fill this out. Then I refuse and he says ok I will tell my manager to overlook this. We end up going to the back office with a sales manager that says everything is recorded. Talks to us about the same warranty. Starts playing with the numbers Saying the program is not working correctly and not adding the numbers with the warranty they try to sell us. In the end we get fed up and told them just to sell us the car no warranty nothing and that we wanted a refund for charging us double for the star link subscription. Which I have yet to receive a refund for.Review from Ramil A

On July 25, 2022 I purchased a 2015 ********** Golf VIN: ***************** from Evanston McGrath Subaru. They forced me to sign an arbitration clause. The deal was Ill sign it if they provide me proof of two repairs needed on the 2015 ********** Golf VIN: *****************. Replace the windshield and repair the *** light that was on and causing the car to loose power. The dealership kept the car for a week and called me to say that the repairs was complete. I took ownership of the vehicle on July 29, 2022. The car seem fine in the beginning and after driving it for a few days the *** light has been coming on again in the dash and the car is shaking and loosing power. After contacting the dealership they are refusing to make any repairs to vehicle as they promised to do before I purchased the vehicle. After taking ownership of this vehicle the finance guy *********************** has been calling me trying to shake me down for an $250.00 saying that they inadvertently charged me for suburban taxes instead of chicago taxes. I feel that Evanston McGrath Subaru is not working in the best interest of the customer. They never provide me any proof of the repairs and also I wasnt given any **** of sale for this vehicle showing that Im the new owner of this vehicle.I have contacted them, salesman ************************* and hes hasnt gotten back to me.Can someone please help me stop Evanston McGrath Subaru from taking advantage of hard-working consumers?Review from JustinLinn

This is the worst service department Ive dealt with, including third party shops. I had a check engine on so I dropped my car off there. Within 30min I get a text from the service tech (*** ***) and he tells me that I need a new transmission and its going to cost $7900+. My Subaru is a 2014 with almost 120,000 miles on it. He tells me the transmission fluid is burnt to the point they wont swap it for fear that it would shock the system and fry the transmission right away.I ask what my options are, he tells me thats my only option. I told him I had a lifetime power train warranty thats supposed to be good at any Subaru dealership nations wide. He tells me they dont accept there (100% lie confirmed by his service manager). He tells me I have to go back to the dealership I purchased the vehicle from (another lie confirmed by his boss and another dealership). I said ok and drove my car (with absolutely no problems) 1.5 hrs north to Subaru city in Milwaukee, after paying the absurdly overpriced diagnostic fee of $160 (the highest diagnostic fee around, the dealership I took it too later was $90 diagnostic). When I arrive, their service techs ask me why I drove all the way up here from ******* and told them what the other dealership said and they told me theyre not allowed to refuse my warranty. After they spend almost 2 days inspecting my car, they tell me that the transmission isnt blown and that is was a valve body on the transmission thats $1,300 (not a new transmission for $7900+). They also covered it under my warranty so it cost me $100 of a deductible, not $7900+ with no alternatives. I asked them to change my transmission fluid and they did with no problem. I asked them if the transmission fluid was really burnt, they said it was a little dark but really burnt or black. At this point I call ******* ******************** and tell them their diagnostic was wrong and I would like my $160 back after providing them the other dealerships repair **** contrasted against their quote of $7900+. They agree and tell me to bring in the documents. I bring the documents in and when I do I ask to speak with the service manager. ** told hes no there because it was Saturday but that he would be in Monday and that he would contact me about my refund.Monday comes, no contact from them. I wait a few more days and call them. They send me to their service managers voicemail (**** I think?). I leave a message and wait a few days. This turns into 3 weeks of me calling them every other day to talk to a service manager. I start asking for any manager and got sent to all of their voicemails with no response. I finally force a tech into grabbing their manager and getting them on the phone with me.He goes through this entire speech of how he had 2 techs working on it and thats why they could diagnose it in 30min. He then tells me that they knew they could have replaced the valve body for $1300 but didnt tell me because it might have only given me a couple thousand miles before the transmission would go. He shoots down every question I have after that with my service tech doesnt have access to all the information I have. He then denies my refund. I ask him why wasnt I even told about the $1300 option and he says we went with the best solution which would be a new transmission. He then blames the tech not having access to info again and again. I asked why it took him 3 weeks to get back to me to deny my refund and why he ignored close to 10 voicemails and messages from me over 3 weeks. He kind of apologized and then says if you come back to us, let me know and *** try and hook you up next time.I tried to talk to a general manager over the 3 weeks they ignored me and was told several times that they were on vacation til may! (It was February). This store is so poorly managed I would never go back. I dont care about the money at this point. They wasted 3 weeks of my time while telling me they were going to give me a refund, stringing me along.Theyre probably okay at oil changes but I would never let them repair.
