I received a letter saying I was prequalified for additional funds on my reverse mortgage. My original reverse mortgage was granted on an appraisal of $241,000. My home is now valued at $375,000 to $400,000. I called AFMS on Friday morning. My information was taken, and I was told a mortgage specialist would contact me before the end of the day. I WAS NOT contacted Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. I called Monday morning but had to leave a message with an answering service. It is now 4:45 pm on the same Monday and still no reply. If for whatever reason I was suddenly disqualified, that is a decision to be debated or accepted. However, to ignore or leave a qualified customer/borrower in limbo, in my opinion, is unprofessional and certainly not worthy of a five-star rating with the BBB. Very, very disappointed with the conduct of AFMS.

Our analysis of the information you provided was not complete the same day you called in. Our representative did follow up the next morning at 9:44 am (Saturday). Your voicemail picked up and given the sensitive nature of the information she choose not to leave a message and to try and follow up with you at the start of the week. She was out on Monday and was going to give you a call today. You should be expecting a call from one of our representatives today.

I just completed a HECM refinance with **** G and *****. I contacted a few lenders, one being my current one and told them I wanted to reduce my margin due to the projected increases in mortgage rates. All said they could do it. Of course they could while greatly increasing my Total Loan Balance with crazy costs. The only company that was up front and honest every step of the way was American Financial Mortgage Services, Inc. They kept me informed, answered every question I had, didn't promise me the world and didn't inflate their figures. What they originally told me we could shoot for were the figures I ended up with. I closed within a short period of time and it certainly was a pleasure to work with such knowledgeable, honest, upfront, friendly professionals. I'm one very happy customer! I worked with *****************************, license # ca-dbo ******* NMLS# *******. He was persistent with out being pushy for me to consider a new Reverse Mortgage. After 2-3 months passed I engaged his services. From the first conversation to our final one, he was the consummate professional mixed with support and kindness. Where I had problems, **** knew that he could overcome them and always in my favor. This happened a few times and he never faltered. He was correct in that he knew how best to resolve successfully any problem presented in my favor. Throughout the process he kept me abreast of the loans status.
